Tangmere Airfield Building

Whilst strolling round Tangmere taxyway this afternoon I came across this minor building near oving just north of the old main runway western threshold and just outside the peri track.
This building obviously had many removable floor sections but only the remains of 1 can be seen by the door.
Can any forum members identify the type of building please ??

Most of this is assumed ! I would think the generator mounting “skids” may have had four downward legs fitting into the four cutaways in the plinthes, therefore no mounting would be needed.
Yes, all airfields with runway lighting have standby generators, always near the runway, these buildings may also house the main switchgear for runway / approach lighting, with only a small, remote control, cable connection linked to the tower.
Excuse my indulgence, but I spent much of my apprenticeship working on “airfield visual aids”, runway lighting et al, and spent many a happy hour inside this type of building, sheltering from the weather and, sometimes, the older electricians ! haha ! happy daze ! Keith.

I did wonder if it was something like that but puzzled over the lack of any evidence of motor /genny mounts.
Did not notice any high level exhaust duct openings, but that does not mean they were not there.
What would it have been standby for,it is very remote from the main sites,so perhaps airfield lighting or approach aid ??

Cheers guys

I would think this was a generator building, the “trench’s” in the floor would be cable ducts, were there openings in the wall at high level for exhaust system outlets ? Keith.

Tangmere building.

Looks like a Standby Generator building. The plinths in the floor center would have supported the generators.
