Bit yuk in the morning but very nice late afternoon which is when I walked the west and south side. But it was just luck, there were some heavy showers not far away at all times. It is a great museum which may have to move eventually, if/when the new town gets built, they have some really interesting artefacts inside but open days are not the best days to view them.
If anybody plans a visit, let me know cos I live fairly close by.

cheers baz

Will give you a shout when next in the proximity. Norman

Thanks for posting the evocative photo’s of Tangmere airfield. The atmosphere of that place is most tangible.

I always take a similar walk around the site whenever i’m in the area. More fascinating in a way than the Museum itself. Although I must say, that on my last visit, I was fortunate enough to get a postcard of Hunter WB188 signed by Neville Duke. Now treasued and framed upon my wall.

I wonder why the museum cannot do something to preserve the Control Tower, which now looks in even worse shape (windows bricked up) than when I last saw it about 4 years ago…

Out… Roxeth.

Since the museum was packed full of sad aircraft enthusiasts:rolleyes: I spent a fair bit of the day outside.
Eventually I did a bit of a walkabout on the airfield site.
pic 4 is taken near Oving at the old west threshold looking along the path of the old main runway looking east

Just thought I would remind anyone interested or in need of an excuse to get out of the gardening about the open day at Tangmere on Sunday, as Scott says loads to see.
