Can anyone provide any details on the history of the Tangmere Target Towing Flight; or have any leads on photographs depicting the Flights Miles M25 Martinets?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Tim

I am afraid that my knowledge/research of post war Tangmere is minimal – apart from the front line squadrons I know little about the various “lodger” units etc that were based there, although there were operational squadrons at Tangmere and Ford around that time of course.

Tangmere1940,
Many thanks for the reply and figers crossed on the “trawl”. Do you have any specific information on who the Flight were providing target facilities for?
Kind regards,
Tim

I don’t recall any pics in my collection but I will have a trawl through. I know there are some shots of Bristol Brigands, P-47’s and T-33’s around this period, but they are the only “out of the ordinary” images I recall.

Tangmere1940,
I believe they operated post war into the early fifties; an example is Martinet EM555 of TTF Tangmere S.O.C. 18.01.51 after towing wires snagged rudder in flight and aircraft not repaired. (Air Britain RAF Aircraft EA100 – EZ999)
Kind regards,

What period was that?
