Spitfire MJ627 arrived at Duxford on 2nd January and now nestles between MH434 and Ferocious Frankie with OFMC.

It does have wing tanks – but visitors to the Battle of Britain show last September will recall they were unuseable at the time (hence the short display using the fuselage tank only). Presumably these tanks will now be repaired or replaced.

Fuselage tank on the Mk IX TRAINER is just 39 gallons.
Factory fit was further inner and outer wing tanks of 13.5 and 12.5 gallons respectively.
In for refurb?
