Tanks now unsafe in Iraq

Hey folks,

Well it seems now even the Mighty Challenger Tank is no longer invulnerable. So our troops are no longer safe it seems, not a bad month for the Iraqi’s, a Warrior holed by IED, now a Challenger, what next? The Venerable refurbished a million & one times AFV 432 ( time to show its age, my dad learnt to drive the Mk1’s back in the 60’s).

Well, sooner our Boys & Girls come home the better, before I get poo pooed here, I know we Brits dont give up on a fight, but in my view Iraq is gettin even dodgier than the streets of Belfast all those years ago.

Does not make the Challenger ‘invulnerable’, just lucky.

Incidently a british soldier died in a fire fight in Iraq today.

Re Challenger, thats fair enough.

Todays death is yet another sad and tragic event 🙁 Atleast his fight is now over, I hope he may Rest in Peace.

Possibly the minor detail of no Challenger tank, either Mk1 or Mk2 has been lost or breached in combat until now, same with the Warrior. Correct they survived, but I doubt very much the driver is happy at loosing his legs though. Bex

Who said the Challenger was ever completely invulnerable, anyway the crew survived, didn’t they??

The Challenger was never ‘invulnerable’. No tank is. The Americans have lost a number of Abrams to IED’s in Iraq. Frequently they drive over a buried artillery shell that is then exploded. No tank can survive that.
