Correction: I viewed CBBC Chart yesterday and Oasis came in straight at the top spot, pushing Tatu to No.2; You may see other charts this week showing the same top-spot-swap.

RE:

“”Try to imagine T.AT.U. without the kissing gimmic, …….”

… easy… I’ve heard the song about three times on the radio and I still haven’t seen the video.

The song is no worse than any other song on the radio at the moment and better than quite a few.

RE:

Try to imagine T.AT.U. without the kissing gimmic, wouldnt they be just like those stone face hitler youth Abba teens? I first heard this song watching the video so I dont know how much Id like this group for their music alone, but I think the video had a strong effect.

RE:

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-02-03 AT 11:29 AM (GMT)]”The point is that their Russain promotor has, through innuendo, tried to creat the “rumour fever” that they LOOK underage; “

Why would they try that? As I said if they wanted the underage look what was stopping them from getting real underage girls?

“Furthermore they way they are dressed (and the added impression of lesbinism)is intended to to convey the allure of “forbidden” ………… whatever.”

What is wrong with lesbianism? If you listen to what the song is about… ie a forbidden relationship between two school girls that is not well received by those around them I really don’t see what the problem is with the video. What else were they going to show?

“It is all very seedy and backstreet”
“Pop industry today can do well without it.”

The POP industry has already sunk to much lower levels than this.
Madonna, George Micheal and many other westerners have gone much further than having two girls kissing on their vids.

They are certainly a lot better dressed than Holly Valance in her first hit, or Cher in most of her vids.

If you are upset about TATU where were you when “Slap your B!tch up” was released?

(I was quite shocked at this video… a chest mounted camera followed a night out on the p!ss and on the Pull. Except the person carrying the camera wasn’t very nice to women… quite offensive actually… of course at the end when the person we had been following around finally got home and looked in a full length mirror we saw that it was a woman… which at the time made me laugh, of course thinking back it was with relief at the time as I had started to dislike the camera person but now I wonder why I was OK with a woman treating other women like that when when I thought it was a man doing all that I was annoyed… funny old world isn’t it.

“: very Russian !!”

What do you mean by that comment?
Are you judging all of Russia by the fact that videos including lesbian school girls if indeterminant age seem to sell very well in the western world… and elsewhere? What does it say about those westerners and others including those here who like their music?

If you ask me all it says is that one Russian agent was very clever in creating a group image that has world wide appeal to a certain consumer group. Regarding what It says about the people here is that there must be enough substance in the group to sell records and that all they probably needed to get forced upon the world stage was a gimmick… which their agent seems to have achieved.

I think it was rather smart.

Anyone shouting out that it should be banned is just drawing another few dozen potential customers into giving it a look to see what all the fuss is about. TV or radio stations banning it makes thousands or millions want to find out…

GaryB,
>>>>If that was what they intended I am sure he could have found 2 twelve year old girls to perfom…….<<<<<

You are missing the point here. We know Tatu are not underage.

The point is that their Russain promotor has, through innuendo, tried to creat the “rumour fever” that they LOOK underage; Furthermore they way they are dressed (and the added impression of lesbinism)is intended to to convey the allure of “forbidden” ………… whatever.

It is all very seedy and backstreet: very Russian !!

Pop industry today can do well without it.

“If this is the depth that the Russians have to stoop to for the sake of making money, then something has gone very wrong with that country and that society. “

Making money by exploitation… I think they finally understand Capitalism… find out what the consumer wants and give it to them.

“Glamoursing under-age sexuality is going way way beyond any limits of decency. “

If that was what they intended I am sure he could have found 2 twelve year old girls to perfom… certainly under concentual age for having sex in most countries but all TATU do is hug and kiss and there is no age requirement for that.

Underage sex is wrong but I really don’t see what that has to do with TATU. Compared to Madonna they seem quite tame to me. (or dare I say it Michael Jackson constantly grapping his own genitals and calling it dancing… masterbation if you ask me… }> )

“Sisters” doing it for themselves ………………….”

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-02-03 AT 01:45 AM (GMT)]I think their song is quite a catchy-tune.

I have no problems with dykes and have not (yet) been able to figure out why some guys find girl-o-girl(“sisters” doing it for themselves) such a turn on.

We were out at a Bar on Friday evening in the City recently; everbody had had a few drinks; conversation turned (inevitably !!) to crude topics. Someone had the clever idea to ask, “how many people’s ultimate fantasy is to have the two Minogue-sisters “going-at-it” in his/her bedroom”? I’d say close to 90% of those present (including the females present) put their hands up. I must investigate this area further ………….. :9 😛 :9

On the serious note though, I think the emphasis on their (Tatu’s) age is a worrying. Child-abuse has become one of the MOST disturbing issues of our time. In my school-days glamoursisng drugs was the worst thing that bad-boys/girls of Pop could do.

Glamoursing under-age sexuality is going way way beyond any limits of decency. If this is the depth that the Russians have to stoop to for the sake of making money, then something has gone very wrong with that country and that society.

TATU…How do you feel about them

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-02-03 AT 11:44 PM (GMT)]I caught the end of top of the pops on BBC1 tonight, and Tatu were on there preforming. Though it was only last night, Steve Penk on Capital FM said that the duo were to be banned on most music shows on British TV.

No kissing and Hugging though on totp, just the odd holding of hands.

RE: RE%3A T%3AA%3AT%3AU… How do you feel about them%3F

Just read serendib post and I have to say there is a huge fuss being made over nothing! They kiss and kuddle, so what! If it was a bloke and a woman it wouldn’t be looked at.
With regards the video, lets face it, there are worse out there, Holly Valance and Cristina Aguilara have had one each that are a lot worse (still nothing wrong with them though).

And Richard and Judy trying to get the single banned, are they mad? What is so bad about the song or the lyrics that leads to them making such a ridiculous claim?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-02-03 AT 07:12 PM (GMT)]I would think ‘Not Gonna Get Us’ would be their next UK released single. Compared to ’30 Minutes’ it is a much stronger song and seeing that a group’s second single is normally the maker or breaker, I think it would come first. Listening to the song it gets better every time…

Well, here in the Netherlands we had ATTSS first, and now NGGU. With the sickening media brain behind the two ladies, i doubt it will be different on your side of the small pond.

After all, you’re quoting the Sun!

RE: T:A:T:U… How do you feel about them?

‘Not gonna get us’ (or better, Nas ne dogonyat’) is indeed their second single. No kissing in this video, but still plenty of fun when Julia and Lena steal a massive KRAZ truck, pass an Il-76 and make way for the snowy taiga where they also happen to drive over a detour-sign.

As with the video for ‘All the things she said’ (a.k.a. Ya soshla s uma, the one with the girld happily kissing in short skirts and lousy weather), it appears the ‘Not gonna get us’ video is a re-edited version of the Russian original. If anyone bothers to take notice, in the English-language videos you’ll never see the girls sign longer than one or two syllables. Guess what, they were actually singing in Russian, and for the English-language releases the videos were simply smartly edited to make it seem the girls were singing in English. There is full singing in Russian videos though.

Although i think their English stuff is good, i absolutely love the Russian-language songs. Nas ne dogonyat and Ya soshla s uma are far more interesting to listen than their English counterparts. On Kazaa you can find other Russian-language songs like Bylo i proshlo and Ya tvoi vrag, they are great too.
