TCX A330

Im flying on an A330 from Manchester – Calgary on 29th Jan 2011 and im curious to know if the aircraft will be an ex MYT machine or one of Thomas Cook’s original A330’s.
There is a big difference between the 2.

Do they all have leather seating and ptv’s.

downstairs toilet or not, i’m sure TCX quality will be better the Balkan Airways in 1990 when they took over some ex Air Europe flights. On a Cyprus to Man flight we were delayed as there we too many people on the plane for the seats available, and then once in the air when asking for a G&T i was told “No, orange juice or coffee”, the only saving grace was the chance to experience the fabulous TU-154!

So its an AN24 specific ‘wonder’ bucket

From what both Kabir and Zoot Horn Rollo state it is a AN24 specific ‘wonder’ bucket, with lid ofcourse.

Just hope MOL doesn’t get his hands on similar buckets.

It will sure give Boeing 737s a terrible reputation if he does.

nJayM: This was a charter machine between Delhi and Kabul, and to the questions you have asked…. i have no clue, but the bucket had a lid on it like on those dustbins.

This was in 2008.

Hi kabir

You surely aren’t that old….., it sounds in airline terms ‘pre-historic’.

A bucket of water for doing the waterworks in and holding back with anything more solid.

Out of sheer interest was the ‘bucket’ anchored to the structure and large enough and how did they cope when it did fill up, ie who emptied it ?

Sssh, quiet MOL may read/hear and think of getting rid of the last toilet he proposes on RyanAir and replace it with a bucket and sell adult nappies if anyone needs to do anything else more solid.

Give us a bigger laugh.

How long ago was all this and where ?

Ever been on an An-24? I think the Bulgarian one I was on back in 2000 was of an equal standard.

You aren’t that old surely Kabir …..?

Reminds me of a flight on an AN 24. They had a water pucket as a loo to pee in. If you had go do the other stuff, you have to wait before it lands. 🙂

Before flying on an Airtours A330 back in March 2002, I would have shared the same view, but seriously, a downstairs toilet was very exciting. Definitely one of the highlights of my Jamaica holiday. 😀

Must have been a pretty poor holiday if thet was a highlight.

Is it that time of the year again already? 😎

Haha 😀

I also had the same experience on a MYT A330 to Florida :p

Well, I’ll strike Jamaica and Florida off any list of travel destinations then if the toilets on a plane are going to get me more excited.

Frankly I’m not sure how much more leg stretching you can do going down some stairs than walking along an aisle?!

back in 2002 we were booked on a mytavel a330 man-florida but during the winter months they had chartered one from Skyservice, and it no seat back entertainment, and for both legs the sound system was down for most of the plane, so it was silent movies!!!!!!
by the way much preferred BMIs A330s when on MAN-ANT their ecomomy was 2-4-2

Reply #11: “you have a strange idea of what is exciting about going to Canada”

From my personal experience of inflight toilets (including many visits behind the curtain down the back end of a C130), it is better to travel hopefully than to arrive. If the bog works and the wash basin isn’t blocked, who cares whether it’s downstairs or not? (C130 has no basin!).

Some parts of Oh Canada are simply stunning – the vast (used advisedly!) majority of it is boring. It’s much too big for us Brits to get our heads around, like Australia, but without kangaroos :D.

Aghh, nothing worse. Nearly slid out my seat on a flight into Cairns a few years back. Pilot came in a tad too quick, slammed the brakes on, and I nearly slid out the seat. Okay, probably shoulda had the seat belt a lil bit tighter, but still, was fun…:D

I’m curious about downstairs toilets on an A330, which has only one deck. Where, exactly, are they?

At least we aren’t discussing MOL- Ryanair – reduction in toilets

Hi TommyInYork
At least we aren’t discussing MOL madness and a reduction in toilets on RyanAir.
Downstairs toilets do possibly give you an opportunity of stretching your legs on long haul routes.
I personally would concentrate though, on the your planned exciting destination rather than the upstairs downstairs concept of toilets since you aren’t on RyanAir.

where the toilets are, don’t really matter

At the end of the day, the material of a seat or where the toilets are, don’t really matter and it’s more feasible that the aircraft will probably not be known now i.e. the reg of it as it’s still only summer 2010 and not winter season, so it could perhaps change?

Are all TCX A330’s leather seated or do some still have MYT interiors.
Whats the difference between the entertainment systems.
Is it worth upgrading to premium.
