TCX Double Capacity at Newcastle

Top story on the local news this morning is that TCX are to double their capacity at Newcastle Airport for next Summer. Presumably this means the basing of an additional 757 there over this period.

The move will bring 50 jobs to the region and offer greater choice to local holidaymakers.

Better polish up on ye geordie wys, we may be needing ye!

Wys said yesterday that if a Condor 767 comes to britain for the summer, that it’d probably be crewed by Condor flight crew.

However, he said ages ago that he hoped one of the other UK Charters got a 767-400, as if there was one on teh UK registry, it’d automatically get added to his licence. Therefore, I think it’s safe to assume that he’s got a licence for the 767, as the cockpit’s basically the same as the 757’s, anyway. (I think there’s a day or two of retraining required, but that’s all)

So, next summer we’re going to see a TCX 767 on the UK long-haul charter runs then?

Will this be a lease do you think or a permanent arrangement.

Whatever the case, it’ll be good to see another wide-body in the fleet; pity its not another A330 though.

Thanks Wys.

Wys did you already fly a 767? Is your license valid for any 767?

No, a LGW 320 will replace the MAN 757. Both 330’s go to LGW and probably a Condor 767 operating from MAN.

Does this mean capacity is going to be reduced at MAN?

I mentioned this in another post a couple of days ago Pembo. I presumed the Geordie brigade had all seen it. It’s actually a MAN aircraft that will relocate for the season and is supposed to be crewed by touring MAN crews.
