Does anyone have any good pics of Spitfire XVI TD248 in the 2004 season when she temporarily wore invasion stripes for that season?
I’m looking to build a model of her for a Facebook group build next year, using the Airfix club kit as a basis.

How long after D-Day was it before the invasion stripes were removed from RAF / Allied aircraft?

Yeah, I remember that. Luckily, I have the issue of Flypast that came out about the same time, and it also has a nice air-to-air of ‘248 with those roundels. Definitely think that’s the option I’ll go for! 😉
Which edition of the magazine was that?

Further to above links, there was a lovely air-to-air photo published in Aeroplane at the time, which shows her still wearing the 1945-style upper wing roundels and with the spinner still in red. Just thought I’d mention it as a slightly more colourful option.

Thanks for those, Peter. I forgot she didn’t wear underwing roundels!
