The time is dawning when I must plan my next upgrade…
THIS time I would like to do it properly, Instead of the usual “Oooh ! that looks good, I’ll have one of them”.
So, My questions are…
Nvidia or Radion…?
Intel or AMD.
I will be putting all the money I can into this one as it will have to last me several years, so it will be pretty “top End” can I go Too far , or is it a case of get the most expensive, fastest & Biggest?
In short, How do I design the best FSX kit in the world, from the ground up…..?

I went for Intel and Nvidea, but it’s more important to get the mainboard future proofed in my opinion.
Oh and make sure you use a 64 bit OS if you want more than 3GB of your memory to be used 😮 Not that I’d do such a stupid thing, oh no… All sorted now but I did feel a bit stupid.
I’m running an Intel Core 2 duo 8400 on an Asus P5Pro M/B, 4 GB RAM and an Asus NVidea GeForce EN9600GT graphics card, and FSX pretty much runs at eleven accross the board. Pretty much all of my components ended up as Asus for some some reason but it seems pretty solid – had to reseat a memory module once but that’s been the only issue.
Modern Warfare 2 runs smooth as you like as well so I’m happy for the moment!

I gave up to using Radeon cards ages ago. I had issues with them, but can’t even remember what they were now !
I always used to use AMD processors in my own built PCs, but I’ve swapped over to Intel, and can’t say that there’s much difference.

Though I have never built for my own use using Intel – I have done so for others – and really no real difference overall except price.
Regarding the Graphics card – I have a PC here I built for my wife …a ATI Radeon card on a K7S5A board, never been quite as good as I expected.
I guess though , at the end of the day it all boils down to “Suck it and see”.

Cheers Dave, Me too. But as I have never tried any other I thought that I would ask the question…..

My preference has always been NVidia and AMD – but that is just a personal opinion. However the three PCs I have built especially for FS over the past 8 years have all used that combination and have all performed well.
