Hi all
While unpacking yet another box I found a few of the below units, appear to be a thermostat control of some sort- one has a tag and its AAF labelled. The unit is 30 volt and date stamp on unit is 1940.
My question is does this unit make an appearance anywhere on aircraft or was it for something else? It was in a box full of gauges and switches so thought naturally it may be, but I cannot find a reference anywhere.
Cheers

I think they were used for electrically heated flying suits.
Such devices were developed in the 1930’s as the new aircraft of the era were able to operate at ever increasing altitudes and crew comfort became an issue.
