Depressing or what?
From the Tempest website:
“The Tempest NV778 arrived at the centre in November 2001, but the rebuild re-started not until May/June 2002.
When the mechanical work is finished, it will be repainted in “target tug” colours and suspended in Hendon´s new milestone exhibition”

As far as I know (and my information isn’t bang up-to-date), there are roughly a dozen Tempest survivors worldwide.
Of the former Indian Air Force examples, again afaik:
– One’s on display at the RAF Museum;
– Two are owned by Tempest Two Limited, in the UK (one of those is MW763, which might be being restored to airworthy condition?);
– Two others are thought to be stored in the UK — not sure where;
– One, G-BSHW, was thought a few years ago to be stored in France;
– One is stored in Texas, owned by Nelson Ezell;
– One is on display at the Indian Air Force Museum in India.
Afaik the only other Tempest II survivor anywhere is LA607 (I think), which used to be owned by Kermit Weeks in Florida. (Iow all Tempest II survivors, except that one, are ex-Indian Air Force.) The other survivors are all Tempest Vs.

Up for sale? Do you mean Kermit Weeks’ Tempest V? Ummm, I’m starting a whip round – I want it!
From what I gather, there is a slight problem with getting hold of Sabre Engines. Somewhere online there is a listing of all the surviving Tempest airframes, and where they are. I’ll try and track it down at home tonight. Or you could see Flypast’s May 2002 issue, that has it in.
