Whilst many will enjoy the build up to this years superb Flying Legends airshow, its worth sparing a thought in remembrance for the two naval aviators – Lt Cdr Bill Merton and crewman Neil Rix who tragically lost there lives exactly ten years ago this month whilst displaying Faiirey Firefly AS.5 WB271 at Duxford (photo Fleet Air Arm Archive).

Hi All
I agree they gave gave their lives in the pursuit of giving us the pleasure of seeing them displaying a beautiful aircraft. To all us aviation Geeks,Nuts,Fans etc.etc. I echo your sentiments and add they and other tragic accidental passing’s should be known as the new veterans of the skies and give a thought to the Family’s who have had their loved ones taken 🙁
