Tesco Mobile! How good is network coverage ?

Hi
Tesco seem to have some good deals for light users, but I wonder what the network coverage is like compared to (say) O2.
I have heard that they use O2 masts but have also heard (rumoured) that the network coverage is not as good as pure O2.

Anybody on here use the tesco network ??

I have a 3 card in my iPad and not had any issues, though it doesn’t tend to travel much, but I’d use the GPS on it to Carlisle ok.

The GPS is nothing to do with the cell network, though if you use online maps then the coverage becomes important.

(But you can always dowload a section of Google maps for offline use)

🙂 As long as it gets a signal at Old Warden why worry 🙂

Trouble is – if it works at old warden – then I have to meet up with some extremely dodgy guys 😀

Pleasure Linc and I can add something to that deal. Another relative to whom I have just spoken and who has been with ‘3’ for over a year said ” You can’t beat their prices and their deals but if you need customer service it varies from dreadful to non-existent”. So I suppose you have to balance what you pay against what you get. Good luck!:)

Thanks Alan and Chas, however, this deal is with “3” only, for £20.00. per month, phone comes free on a two year contract.

Understood, Linc. My son has been with T-Mobile for a while and has had no problems. And coverage is is good 95% of the time, as I think it is with all the first tier providers.

I’ve only ever used Orange, never had a problem.

No, I have a SIM only contract.
I would like a Samsung Galaxy 3s, now it’s cheaper, because it has been replaced, so the price has dropped quite noticeably.but it’s better than the Nokia 710, I have at present.

Don’t you get an upgrade from your current provider – usually a month or two before the end of your contract? I’ve been with Vodafone for ages with few complaints. 3 used to be Hutchison and is a group of world wide providers.

So, Can anyone advise me as to which is the best. I have been with Vodaphone for a very long time, and never had any problems, however, I am thinking about an upgrade to a better phone, but the provider is “3”, anyone tell me about them please?.

That would be the logical conclusion charlie but I have heard a couple of rumours that the coverage is not as good…I just wondered if anybody on here has actually used their network !

My wife had a phone on their network, coverage was abysmal, ironically one place you could never get a signal was in one of their larger local stores, but this was some years back as to present situation, sorry cant really help.

Don’t all the second tier providers buy space from the three main network providers. So if Tesco use O2 wouldn’t the coverage be identical?
