Get yourself a monopod, that’s what I use on my 500 it allows me to hold it while taking airshow shots and supporting it, allowing slower speeds.

Almost forgot …
One of the main reasons i shoot +.03 ev
The place that i post a good number of photos tends to make my photos dark by a stop or 2
by bumping the exposure comp I have less to adjust.
I also do not shoot many prop aircraft. the good majority are military fast jets and prop blur is just not an issue.

Thanks for all the info Don.
The above photo was taken at an airshow where the weather was generally very overcast. I had been shooting an F-35 demonstration right before this. Here are some of the reasons for my settings. My Sigma 150-600 is a tad heavy when shooting all day. I tend to get less stable as the day progresses. I get a higher percentage of keepers by keeping the shutter speed higher. I have seen a bit of blur at lower speeds with this camera(from my instability). The D500 will amplify all your bad habits and poor technique making them obvious.
I have found that my personal preference is to bump the ev slightly as I prefer a brighter picture with better detail. The D500 (in my opinion) tends to produce better results when slightly overexposed.
I am open to any and all constructive observations and suggestions
