Tfc

So the Mosquito has been supposedly swopped for something rare.
What do we think it is?
P-38?
FG-2 Corsair?

Beaufighter VI,

Under the Film and TV section of the site, what’s the thing listed as Forgotten Heroes?
http://www.fighter-collection.com/pages/tfc/film/index.php

IMDb lists two, one from 1990, one from 2004. Was it either of these? neither seem too likely – the 1990 one being a Vietnam film, the other also being US made…

Don’t be cheeky!
For all our long suffering surfers we apologise. Web master married, engineers to busy wielding spanners, office staff disappeared to warmer climate, volunteers earning a living, and the sob story goes on!

However with the help of Jo who has altered the admin of the site Grayfly and self will attempt to keep you updated, please be patient! News is easy, putting a new Hurricane page on will exercise the grey matter.

Now of course if there is a willing volunteer out there who has nothing better to do on a Sunday, please apply?

The P-38 was at Chino during the May airshow. I talked with one of the gentleman tending the airplane and he said it was going to a new owner but would not reveal who. I’d bet money that TFC have purchased or traded for the machine and you will see it at Duxford at some point.

Wouldn’t be the first time the mags have jumped on something to early that hasn’t ended up happening at the end of the day, as a matter of interest do we have any American’s on here that may have spotted this P38 at Chino recently (that was supposed to be where it was last spotted at least).

What i find interesting on the P38 is after the big story broke in
AEROPLANE there has never been a follow up, what can one of that.

All will be revealed one day and then we can all rest, just got a feeling about this one, tfc have never come forward and made an official statement on the 38 so we will all have to see.

‘AEROPLANE’ even got the photograph of the alleged P38 ‘Marge’ Back to front thats how much effort they put into researching the story 🙂

The experts in the magazines namely AEROPLANE had a coup of an article TFC get P38 from paul allen, well its all gone quite on the coup.
TFC have never stated they had a P38 so were did the story begin,it must of been a dream on someones part, perhaps david burke can throw some light on this subject,i love 38s but this story “has not got off the runway”

Tfc engineers have never said they are getting a P38, in fact the only thing they knew about it was when someone from the Avi8 board asked them about it. I think it is a rumour that went right through to the magazines. Good wind up though.

If it is true no one is telling Tfc including Stephen.

The Mosquito is still in the country but now in different ownership.
If for example I was going to restore a Mosquito the best place to do it would be in the U.K purely because of the spares availability
and the ability of UK engineers.
Regards the P-38 – you can acquire most things if you have
things to swap or barter. I don’t think operating a fleet of warbirds that the purchase price becomes a large consideration –
especially if it can be restored over a number of years like the Hurricane .

i duno, it is just very weird how we have heard nothing about the p-38 or the mossie. Some people say that the mossie is still staying, and being restored elsewhere and ……..

Im no expert but i didnt think that the TFC could afford a p-38, they have alot of restorations going on, and they have just got a p-51D and a new Hurricane?

Would be nice tho if Paul Allen did put more money in UK warbirds 😀
