TFC Curtis Hawk 75 arrives at DX

The 2 Crates were opened & the Curtis Hawk 75 emerged (no sign of Spit 19)- looking gorgeous – chap from Fighter rebuilders busily assembling her with Stephen Grey attentively looking on & helping.

Hi Rocketeer

Whenever you got something special to share on TSR 2 then I am always interested, specially in something so rare as a Head down display…

Cheers

Robbo,

I looked into Photobucket and it seems a free account has 25mb storage with a maximum bandwith 1.5MB. Now I wonder if that bandwith would be enough with a popular walkaround?

Now I do not have any experience in linking a large photo album to another site. Normally I use the combination Dreamweaver Fireworks to automatically create the actual album. Would that be possible with the photographs on Photobucket?

Paul McM –
Bien sur mon ami……………..!!! And the probable response “Not on your nellie – but you can have the Hawk 75 if you like since we are in the process of dismantling historic aviation in the UK”.
See other threads.

In light of the current ‘difficulties’ vis-a-vis Blair/Chirac and the Rebate/CAP issue

I will not be surprised if Jacques will be saying…. ‘we want you to give up the £3 billion…… and the Hawk 75!’

Merlin 70 – Thanks for the Le Bourget posting. The Hawk 75 really hit the headlines – or did it…………………!!!!!!!!!!! Such a shame that there is little or no coverage of this historically significant aeroplane’s temporary return to its country of original purchase. Mind you, the value of it today must be around a hundred times its original price when sold by Curtiss to the French in the late 1930’s. I bet Stephen is looking like a proud new dad while he enjoys the culinary delights of la belle France and the attention his new acquisition is getting from an appreciative bunch of “les fana’s d’aviation historique Francais”…………!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Roll on Legends.
Cheers,

Robbo I might take you up on your offer! If I do I will of course credit these to you! The Hawk 75 is something out of the ordinary… specially in French colours!

Unfortunately I have to cross the channel to take those photograhs and I can only manage that once or twice a year. However I have more walkarounds waiting to be processed. I think many of you will have beaten me to it but the next one will be of the Bell P39-Q6 Airacobra took some 250 photographs from that one….

The Hawk 75 was visible on the ground at Le Bourget (Paris Airshow). Not sure if this has appeared elsewhere on the Forum, but it seemed relevant.

Just The ticket!

Photomaker you have some really great shots in your archive. Even though I’m not a modeller (these days), they gave me a lot of pleasure.

Welcome to the forum, keep an eye on the paperclips. They’ll guide you to some excellent photo contributions from our loyal band 🙂

You take some great photographs Robbo! I personally like the Hawk 75 photographs alot, unfortunately I could not get some good photographs of the nose of the Hawk due to it being parked to close to the hangar doors…

Ok here you go http://users.pandora.be/Aircraftwalkarounds/introduction.html
I am currently working on the Hawk walkaround and hope to have between 160 and 180 left when I finish processing. Unfortunately due to limited webspace I have to keep everything small even when I take them at full quality raw files.

I hope you enjoy them! Here are some more…

If there is interest in them I will put up my photographs of the Hawk 75 on my website. I took some 2OO in April including the interior of the fuselage, cockpit interior and wheel wells. Might take some weeks before they are processed.

Here are some examples!

Why? Its a public museum! Very nicely slipped in if you ask me 🙂

Now if it was carried out on private property and the public couldnt see it then it would be a different matter.

Can I just add my vote of thanks to all at TFC for their hard work with the Hawk. That included the chaps in America as well.
