Does naybody know the status of the TFc Sea Fury – it seems a long time now since the restoration started.
Can’t wait to see here fly – esp in formation with the RNHF example. I can’t say I can remember seeing 2 FAA marked single sea Fury’s flying for many many years in UK.

From what I have read it seems she is destined to go to France to join a certain gentleman who already owns a Hawker Fury! (WG599 – ES3617 ex D-CACY, VH-SFY)

Sorry for the slight thread drift here but who owns WG599 now? I understand it’s the ex-OFMC machine?

Glad to see things are progressing and that (as usual) most rumours have no founding in the truth.

I believe both have since joined the recent exodus of aircraft from Precision

Hi
You may find the last paragraph or so of the latest post here of interest. http://fighter-collection.com/cft/tfc-diary/ Normally Hangar updates are only available via our online Fighter Log to Friends of TFC. This update has been made available to all so you can read the facts rather than hearsay and internet rumour about the Sea Fury in question. Hope that helps.
Thanks Chris,
I was merely relaying what I was told by one of the guys there many moons ago (around 2005/6). Obviously he wasn’t around when it happened either, so the hearsay has been going on for a long time. At least we have a definitive answer, cheers guys.

Thanks for that. For me this Sea Fury FB.11 (together with the Fiat CR.42) is one of the most long awaited restorations at Dx, and I’m looking forward to more progress being made on its return to flight I n the near future.

Very interesting. Hopefully, TFC will provide an update on WG655 in their next update too!
TFC currently provide a monthly hangar log as part of our package available to all our Friends supporters. If you wish to follow and get the facts then please feel free to join Friends of TFC, link click HERE.

Thanks for posting that Chris G, always look to see if there has been any progress.
A very stock aeroplane I do believe.

That is fair enough, thanks for the insight. It is a pity that the airframe has been damaged in such a manner, but as you say with so many other things to be getting on with, and indeed the Centaurus engine to deal with as well then no real supprise that it has waited so long for completion which may not even happen now for a very long time.

That’s very sad news, having checked her out last Friday I can only confirm its true. She is no longer on the jacks that supported her for some years now and is propped up on wood blocks on the floor. Some damage is visible, hope that she gets fixed to in due course.
By: CIRCUS 6 - 23rd May 2015 at 21:28
think you will find that is bull s–t
I’m quoting one of the established engineers when I worked as a volunteer engineer there. If the incident didn’t occur, then he got it wrong. The damage however is clear to see. Check out the wing centre section, mainspar just inboard of the port leg. Impact damage, cracked and split.
Well perhaps you can enlighten us all then if it is as you put it, bulls–t. That is assuming that you actually know if that incident occurred.
Personally I find it unlikely that such an aircraft would slip its jacks, but accidents do happen so while its not impossible I am sure that the TFC engineers would follow the necessary procedures and precautions to avoid such an incident.
Its not like they don’t do it very often after all !!Steve
Sadly Steve, it does happen now and again. I’ve never witnessed one myself, but have prevented one when one of my boys was supervising the jacking of an aircraft. Some people get carried away with getting them up quickly (ooer!), and they can get a wobble on.
As with all things TFC, it’s down to the owners to decide what gets priority, so leaving the Sea Fury alone isn’t the end of the world.
