Had a visit to Duxford yesterday (Saturday) to get some photos of The Fighter Collection’s newly acquired, ex Doug Arnold, Spitfire XVIII/SM969(G-BRAF) before they put it together. The ‘Grace’ Spitfire went up on an air to air photo sortie. The Spitfire in the paint shop is, I presume, ‘plastic’ and judging from the attachment points all over it, is going to be hung from the roof in the new tin shed.

Just found these two old photos that I took of G-BRAF, the aircraft was about to have its first flight from the bump (Biggin Hill). And yes that is Doug in the second photo, I think the pilot was Chris Bevan.

As said, I assumed it was being ‘Hung’ because of all the attachment points. I stand corrected then 🙂

Suspension points = suspension: a natural enough assumption! They might be handy for moving it around though.

Whats the aeroplane in photo 7 of the first set?
Ollie
It’s a Cassut Racer IIIM/G-RUNT similar to this one.

I knew there would be a good reason to bank with them!!
It’s nice to know that the huge amount of mortgage interest that I pay goes to a good cause.

Nice work. DH. I notice that ML407 appears to have a new sponsor name on the fuel tank cover?
(Having just looked at the Grace Spit site, it appears so! Thanks HSBC :))

I wish they’d hand the plastic Spit rather than the last surviving RE.8 🙁
That is nothing short of a national disgrace.

Plastic, yes (well, GRP), hung, no. It’s a marketing tool for which DX have big plans.
“STAND BACK THEN!” this will be interesting… 😀
