I was really sad when I heard this. For me, his greatest role was as the long suffering Police Chief, Dreyfuss in the Pink Panther movies. Although his talents spanned much more than that. One of the many lines that always made me laugh, was when in one of the Panther scenes, he states that “If I had ten men like Clouseau, I could destroy the world!” Before promptly cutting his thumb off, with a cigar guillotine on his desk…..priceless.
Farewell old friend, you’ve earned your rest, and you’ve left us with an absolute treasure trove of great performances.:(

Anyone else remember him as psychiatrist Dr Roger Corder from the series ‘The Human Jungle’? Probably early to mid sixties. Great actor and lived to a good old age.

Superb ‘villian’ actor, especially in The Ladykillers. Always my favourite character in the Pink Panther films.
His film career actually spanned an incredble 51 years.
