That Aussie ejection story scare – the truth shown – make your own mind up

We have a bit of an update which i think the forum here should be made aware , as it confirms that the ejection seat story is real and not a myth.
It also casts questions on is battle ……..being honest?

Daniel / Phil this is yet to be confirmed/verified please stop scaremongering/commenting with your opinions before any professional conclusion has being reached.

Mods pleads lock/delete this thread until issue has being confirmed.

So Battle claims to everyone on this forum that ——there is no confirmed rocket packs in the ejection seats.

So we are all sure.. he is saying no ejection seat rocket packs exist in the cockpit section.

He also claims that I am scaremongering?.

And lastly that no professional opinion on the seats have been reached.

Now…..please pay attention to those last 3 lines.

Battle may wish to change his tune very quickly and agree to that fact is that his mate wrote the comments on line to facebook today confirming that the B-57 has rocket packs in the ejection seats. Here pasted below, is the entire comment proving battle is playing with the truth to suit himself…..and only trying to dress my comments up as a lie.

Here is the exact copy of the “Aussie Cockpits” facebook page as seen in email trail notification and screen copy……from earlier today where the thread started and note – the forum admin is the one – now everyone pay careful attention, including battle – who announced to everyone on the group that David P cockpit had rocket packs still attached to the ejection seats.

So battle is a bit hard pushed to claim im scaremongering……. when battle’s own mate wrote the very words ….
It has also been confirmed to the facebook page by the admin / battles mate… that a professional company is now involved in having the rocket packs ……….removed.
We will come to those comments at the end….

A quick warning to everyone involved in aircraft preservation, don’t take things for granted and check everything, aircraft and their systems can be dangerous. Dave P’s newly aquired B57 cockpit still had rocket packs in the ejection seats, I’ve sat in that cockpit before and assumed the seats would be safe but obviously I was wrong.

Phil Buckley How would Dave P propose to resolve his problem and disposal? I assume because if there are explosives still in the rocket pack / involved does this then mean that the VICPOL have to be informed or can a owner like Dave P do this removal work himself?. We should thank Aussie Cockpits for pointing out to collectors that this is a issue which can happen …surprise surprise and shock……and people do need to check what they buy very carefully.

Andy Wright Offer rides at the next cockpit day? That was shipped from the US too. Yikes. Costly to dispose of the rockets?

Phil Buckley Not good at all. So that means it sat for nearly 30 + years or so fully armed with them in place… hmmm thats a worry due to variable nature of the ALSE parts….Least when I brought my F-4 seat it was clearly missing the rocket pack and the drogue slug. So i knew that it was safe to me. Might be a story to share…

Matt Austin Ah, so from Davis-Monthan then. Interesting that someone missed the procedural step about checking the seats!

Aussie Cockpits So when are we going to check out if they still work? Devo

Daniel Sherburn-Mccormack What about the canopy? How does that jettison? Could be some explosives there too.

Dave ‘Soda’ Soderstrom I’m sure we could charge enough for a “once of a lifetime” ride enough for Davo to cover the new paint costs! actually I know a few people we could strap in and do the world a favor!

Daniel Sherburn-Mccormack I am glad no one has been hurt, someone in the 90’s died in South Africa playing in an old cockpit, on a lighter note I will check the doves and make sure they are not armed!

Now an update…..the thread was removed a few hours ago it seems from Aussie Cockpits….but the facebook email notification system has at the end of the thread these 2 very very…telling comment which proves battle is now trying to cover up my post aka claiming i did the scaremongering…….when it is others who made the comments
I have bolded and underlined the key words to focus on.

Aussie Cockpits wrote: “Dave is getting his cockpit worked on in a professional facility, ie not himself, the people working on it found the rockets and have the means to handle and dispose of them appropriately.
“Aussie Cockpits wrote: “Just in case people don’t read my reply to Phils comment. I just wanted to clarify that this cockpit is being worked on in a professional aircraft facility, not in Daves garage, the people concerned are competent in dealing with this type of hazard and disposing of it appropriately, hence why they found them in the first place. Paul”

Ill leave it up to everyone to now decide is this topic ……a internet made up story if so…. and myth as many think…..

Remember battle said in top quote that nothing has been confirmed, so why do we then see these qualified statements on facebook page?.
Battle is now calling his mate a liar and also the professional company.
And also me.

Nice digging yourself into a corner battle.

The ejection seats as confirmed by the admin are obviously still with their rocket packs and that is a hazard as the admin pointed out to the forum.

Now ends this topic.

Phil,

This appears to be a personal battle between yourself and another member. It isn’t for this forum. Please take it elsewhere.

I don’t think any of us doubt that ejection seats can be dangerous. It is for their owners to take the requisite steps to ensure their safety.

Thread closed.
