That is one big gun!

Large deck gun recovered from a 1917 shipwreck near Donegal.

When we first time fired our piece, it was in direct-firing range where we practiced anti-tank use of our 122mm howitsers. First we shot few rounds with smaller charge ammunitions and it was basicly just like firing a mortar, you could almoust see the mutions flying in the air. I felt that is this it? Wasen’t artillery supposed to be some kick-ass stuff?

…Then we changed to full charges. Few of our guys went to the side of the howitser to see better where the hits were falling. I pulled the handle and it was like someone hitting you to every single cell in your body. I couldn’t see nor hear or sense anything for nearly a minute after the shot. Those guys in the side of the howitsers fell to their arses all small stuff laying around in the fireposition were nowhere in sight anymore.

….after the first shock, I knew I gotta get more of these:D:D Beats the hell out of any extreme sport adrealine rush…

I had the divine honour to be inside an AS90 when firing. It was heaven.

Same here – although it’s more fun sat just beside it when it fires – my backside hurt for a month afterwards. It felt like I’d been jolted into the air by the ground which had then retreated downwards before coming back up and giving me a kick up the a### 😀 😀 😀 LMAO 😀

Good Morning Vietnam…

We’re talking out in the field today.
Hi, what’s your name?
“My name’s Bob Fliber!”
Bob, what do you do?
“I’m in the artillery!”
Thank you, Bob. Listen, can we play anything for you?

“Anything! Just play it loud! Okay?”

Classic – just can’t find a WWW link to the clip:(

I bet….nothing beats firing 122mm howitsers with full charge…even 155mm cannon feels lame compared to it (it has to do with the tube lenght, the shorter tube actually gives better kicks to the crew)
