My wife has said that for my 40th birthday, I can take a flight in something unusual. What can I get for £250? Something in the South would be more practical.
Grateful for any ideas and even better if the money could go towards keeping something interesting in the air.

Flying in a catalina including (weather permitting) a landing on water. It should be affordable even when including an easyjet ticket to AMS and the train fare to lelystad.
eur 179 for half an hour
eur 279 for a full hour (march 28 only)

Add £75 yourself and talk to Ultimate High at Kemble about ‘dogfighting’ in Bulldogs

Speak to Dennis Neville and get a trip in a Chipmunk.

If you wave that kind of money about at North Weald you can probably get yourself a whiz-round in a Jet Provost. Better be quick though as John (affordable housing) Prescott has got the field in his sights.
I have to agree with Will J, The Twin Pin is a hoot. Go to one of the open days at Coventry, and you could have FIVE flights for your money…Rapide, DC3, Prentice, Chipmunk…..
Yak 52’s are brilliant, you should not have trouble finding a willing cost-sharer if you put the word out.

Would £250 get a short flight in the Harvard at delightful Shoreham airport?

Not quite the south but easy to get to by motorways…
…chef’s reccomendation for tonight, the Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer, the only one flying in the Northern Hemisphere. 😉
