The 757

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-12-01 AT 07:41 PM (GMT)]Looking at the Favourite & worst looking aircraft post i can that not many people like the 757,yet i think its a wonderful aircraft!
I believe it had a slow start in terms of sales but again it became another success for Boeing. It was designed to be a replacement to older versions of the 727.The reason its one of my favourite aircraft because really in terms of shape and size its not at all like any other boeing aircraft which makes it stand out.
What do you all think of the 757,are you a fans of it?

Regards Saab 2000

RE: The 757

I’ve never been on the 757, apart from the 777 it’s the only Boeing aircraft I have no experience of (I flew on a 707 when I was very small, so I have little recollection of what it was like, except for a totally perfect touch down!)
The last example of a 757 I saw was an Icelandair aircraft, and I have to say I do not like Icelandair’s new livery.
I have seen the 757 give take off performances which would be more at home with a STOL airliner, they are certainly something to get on video when they do that.

RE: The 757

I agree with all of you…the 757 is a good plane, it looks right.
Considering the fact that a 737-900 seats almost as many pax as a 757-200, I definitely opt for the 757, booth in passenger comfort as well as in looks.

Hey Phantom: I thought I was born to late te fly on the 707.
I think early ’99 I got the chance flying one on a MEA flight from Beirut to Amman.
We were bussed to the plane and most people around me looked yughhh, while I murmelled silently yes…yes!!
For the record, I stole the safety instruction sheeth.

It was a short (evening) flight, extremely un-eventfull an could have been on any type of airliner.

RE: The 757

I’ve flown on it before. Not a bad aircraft. Of course my fav is the 707 (never been on one of those sadly 🙁 ), but the 757 is not that bad. I kinda like it, and it does have a good power to weight ratio.

A very comfortable airliner…although not the best of the looks.

RE: The 757

The 757 is a great aircraft, I’ve flown on it more than any other aircraft types and with many different airlines.

It is also one of the best take-offs around, behind Concorde of course 🙂

Great plane!

RE: The 757

I reckon the 757 is the best looking airliner ever produced. It’s a fantastic aircraft and is very versatile. It is both at home on short haul flights, and long haul sectors.

Plus, the power to weight ratio is unmatched in it’s class – even a fully loaded 757 doesn’t need much runway to become airborne. Compare a fully loaded A321 to it, and you really will notice what a turbo charged mean machine the 757 is.

The airlines seem to like it as well, 1,000 plus deliveries is excellent for a 170-200 seater aircraft. The 757 can actually seat up to 239 passengers infact.

Just a thought – It will celebrate it’s 20th birthday on 19th Feb 2002. Jeez, was it really as long as 20 years since it first flew? I am starting to feel old…

I am a fan of the 757, I find that they are usually very comfortable aircraft, and not too big.

RE: The 757

yeah, I love the thrust of those RB211’s on take off in a 757.
It’s the one aircraft where you really feel the power (maybe apart from Concorde, but I haven’t been on it, so can’t comment)
