So there was a nice surprise at Wings Over Wairarapa (Masterton NZ) yesterday. The Anson bombed the field!

I just hope they don’t get mean-spirited and send up the 190 to take care of it!

Thanks all.
Gavin Conroy has shared an Air-to-Air of the Anson bombing, and showing off its newly-fitted smoke system. Maybe the “109” will mange to bag it sometimes!

Errol, I can’t speak for the whole forum, but you were correct.
I did not mind, having to scroll through, an nice selection of photos, of what looks like quite an impressive show.
I am always amazed by the fantastic array of aeroplanes that fly in N.Z.
Thanks for the post and link.

Some more of the Anson at Wings Over Wairarapa:
First there was a clash with the Bf109 imposter. I hope one day the Jerry wins!

Nope, and I didn’t bother giving a direct link, as I figured people wouldn’t mind a quick scroll past a dozen airshow shots from a world-class photographer.

I muffed getting a shot of the Saturday bombing, but there is a good photo from Gavin Conroy (who’s work has been in and on Flypast recently) in this Wings Over NZ forum post.

Landfall is actually not a bad little film for its age – the Wellington model at bottom of my post was made for the film !
The model pic came from the collectair website – model built by the Victor Woodason Co

In case any Anson fans have not seen the film/movie ‘Landfall’ (1949 – Michael Denison ,David Tomlinson and er Patricia Plunkett)
Here are some screen grabs – a few years ago I identified the Anson footage as being filmed at Thorney Island and the Wellington Hangar/taxy footage as being shot at Lee on Solent

Did it hit it?:p
One of those shots that makes you wonder when it happened last.

Considering his Australian connection has anyone thought of using this Anson to make a film of Neville Shute’s ‘Landfall’?
Already made – years ago – with some nice footage shot at Thorney Island and Lee on Solent ; )

He didn’t do too badly, I will try for impact (and hopefully pyro) shots today.
