The Aviator-my take…

Folks-

What a great flick….not much flying in it, but DiCaprio does a GREAT job as Hughes (and in my opinion the film and DiCaprio deserve the Golden Globes they won on Sunday)…checking several Howard Hughes websites to corroborate the facts I find that both Michael Mann and Martin Scorsese have done their homework in several of the finer points of the film, and while several folks have brought up small technical glitches (the appearing/dissappearing cockpit on the H-1 racer, the wrong Stars and Bars for the period on the XF-11), overall I think the film was TREMENDOUSLY good and a lot of the other actors in it did a great job, most notably Cate Blanchett as Katie Hepburn….but this is just my own particular view, go and see it for yourselves and see what YOU think….all I know is that when it hits DVD, it’ll be on my shelf for sure.

Same here, not many folks in the theater….it did its best business over the holidays and I suspect it’ll do well at the Oscars, which’ll lead to more business again once folks get curious about it again after the Oscars…

Saw it this afternoon.

Just the ten people in the cinema!

A very fine film and certainly an Oscar winning performance by DiCaprio.

Here is a shot of the Hercules at Long Beach in November 1988.
