The Battle of Britain living History show 2011

The first annual The Battle of Britain living History show 2011 will be held on the 11th and 12 of June 2011 on a site 3 miles from the Taunton Somerset junc of the M5. So far two Spitfires and a Hurricane replicas will be in attendance. If you have any WWII OR WWI replica aircraft, cockpits or wartime aviation related displays including reanactors and are interested in attending Please email or PM me. We are hoping to attract some military traders especially aviation related traders and authors.
Also we are hoping there will be some veterans on site along with Military wartime vehicles. Although plans are still being developed two Battles are planned based on an airfield invasion.
On the Saturday night there will be a 1940s themed party
Your support is appreciated and welcomed.
I hope MODs you will not consider this as breaking the advertising rules, we will be making a donation to our local 40 commando from any profits made.

Great pictures. Looks as if you all had a good time and clearly as you have put aside dates for next year that you thought all the hard work made it worthwhile.

Will be putting it my diary for next year just need to persuade SWMBO we need to be in the area.

You need to post some Hurricane photos!!!!

Bit muddy if I’m honest Graham

However, the MVT enjoyed themselves!

One of the stranger displays put on by Baz and his mates, I think its some sort of Cornish ritual??

Glad it went well Graham, the photos look excellent. Sunday’s weather rather spoiled a different Spitfire based activity. More to follow.

Graham – as an outsider, I cry with you.

There are only 2 words to describe your misfortune on Sunday – I will print neither!!

Glad I did not accept your kind invitation – Wife hospitalised on Saturday!

= best wishes, Tim

Hellop All

It went very well up until Sunday when it started raining at 3am and continued all day. We finally closed the show at 12am. It was very well suported with 5 vets three Battle of Britain pilots and two from Bomber command.
There was lots of action on Saturday with the promised Battle including the Spitfire in action taxing into the arena firing its 20mm cannons and a great pirotechnic display. Everyone i have spoken to had a great time. We have a large allied camp with a great variety of services represented and the opposing camp made up of german para troops.
We were also well suported by two local MVT groups with a lrage number of military vehicles. My Hurricane was at the show along with Spitfiremans Spitfire. It was a great weekend aprat from me choosing the only day for weeks to pour with rain. It will be back next year bigger and better.

Here is a moving email I recieved from Bill Green after then show.

Dear Graham,
I firstly wish to thank you for ALL that you did for us veterans yesterday. I’m sure that I speak for both myself and the others in saying that you could not have done more for our comfort and convenience than you did.
The food and drinks were just wonderful, only surpassed by the attention given by the ladies who were so very attentive and kind. I regret that in retrospect, I feel that I was not fullsome enough in my thanks to them. Will you please ensure that they are told of my gratitude for all that was done for us. So Graham I’m sure that I’ve said enough to convey my satisfaction with EVERYTHING. Thank You Graham.

You will know that Keith and I shared the total contributions of £125.00. Keith will be sending his 50% to the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust at Capel Le Ferne, and my share will be given to The Kent Battle of Britain Museum which stands on the airfield at Hawkinge, from which my Squadron 501 flew as our forward base throughout the battle.Thank you for this.

You will have put a TREMENDOUS amount of time, energy, and money into organizing the event, and it deserved a much greater following. However, I’m sure that those who did were well pleased with all they had to see.
I want you to know that I felt quite guilty about my absence today, but at the same time was relieved to hear from Mark that you and he had agreed that given the weather forecast, the likelyhood of a worthwhile attendance was remote. For me being less steady on my feet than I was, it would have been hazardous. walking on the slippery field surface and neither you nor I would have wanted an accident.

I feel so sad for you that all the planning and hard work was spoiled by the unusual downturn in the weather, but there is nothing that could have prevented that, nor yet anticipated it. Your cheerful acceptance of this told me a lot about you Graham, and both Mark and I would welcome the opportunity of accepting your kind invitation to visit you at Norton at some future time.

In closing, if at any time I can do anything you ask within my power, it will be my pleasure.
May God bless you and yours, richly, and always.

Yours With All Good Wishes,
Bill Green.

Here are a couple of pictures will add more when i sort them out.
