In my opinion I think the top 3 airports in world for convenience, shopping, architecture and modern are as follows.
1) Singapore Changi
2) UAE Dubai
3) Chep Lap Kok, Hong Kong
When you are attacked by eight bogeys, the only question to ask is “Which one do I attack first?”

RE: The Best Airport in the world
Well i will tell you about it geforce. It is very modern with a few shops and restraunts not as nice as guernsey airport, not as friendly. It is very big for such a small island and is not very busy in the winter but is extremely busy in the summer. Many europeean airlines come here in the summer.I still prefure guernsey though.

RE: The Best Airport in the world
well living in guernsey jonair i totaly agree with. The staff at the check in area are extremely nice and are always smiling, the cafeteria has lovely food.It never seems to be busy so it doesn’t always feel like airport.Although small it does have a many airlines that come in for example eurowings and vlm.Jonair have you been to the other island, jersey, have you seen that airport?

RE: The Best Airport in the world
Guernsey has to be the freindliest airport in the world. Small, yet busy with lots of propliners. Was in its hay day during the viscount era.

RE: The Best Airport in the world
The ones i flew from ofcourse
1. Brussels International (Zaventem)
2. Gatwick
3. Johannesburg
4. Zurich
5. Capetown
6. Heathrow
7. Frankfurt Main (old, ugly, and no accomodation)
8. Antwerp (Deurne) : practical for short flights but i wouldn’t like to wait too long over there.

RE: The Best Airport in the world
I’ve been to a few airports, mainly horible Greek Island airports such as Kos and Corfu. Orlando International was disorganised and cramped and the airport staff had the manners of boghouse rats. The Greek airports were like concrete sheds and there were some very poor facilities in the ‘terminal’ buildings.
Bangor, in Maine USA was good though. Very ‘different’. Liked the rows of KC-135’s that were parked accross from the main runway. The terminal had a very relaxing bar in it too.
I’m not saying BHX is the best airport in the world. I don’t have the funds to fly to Chep Lap Kok, which I’m sure is a fantastic aiport, as well as LAX. I grew up around BHX and watched it expand from a small aerodrome into a busy international airport, which is now 114 in the world airport league, ahead of airports such as Milan-Linate.

RE: The Best Airport in the world
Without a doubt it has to be London Gatwick. The busiest airport in the world using only one runway! Is that just not great?
Plus I regularly fly from this airport and have littleknowledge about any others!!!

RE: The Best Airport in the world
Hey there guys.
I must say that Newcastle is indeed a fine airport, with lloads of variety, you never know what will turn up in most days of the summer months.
One of my faves for spotting has got to be Manchester. What an amazing airport for my fave hobby that is guys, if you ever get the opportunity to make a visit follow the signs to the observation area thing. Its COOL!! Ther are a number of mounds which have a very simple fenced area on top, which provides excellent photo and spotting opportunities. Superb.
While old reliable Heathrow is always gonna be in my heart cos I love it ever since i first went there on my way to San Fran via Virgin. The Queens Building brings back so many good memories!!!
In the USA there is so much choice, I like the facilites at LAX and the spotting in the departures lounge at Newark is great. Although I’ve never had the opportunity to fly there (due to the obvious lack of funds!!) Teterboro’ is a great place, and the spotting ‘area’ is due for some refurbishment…well some tarmac any way!!!
Ok thanks guys thats my 2 pennys worth.

RE: The Best Airport in the world
I loved Monastir airport (Tunisia)when i went their. At first i believed that it would be a small and old airport, but when i arrived their on a british midland a321 it was a nice air conditioned airport.Great duty free shop and a few souvinier shops also great views of the runway and apron and best of all no long lines at the check in.Worst airport has to be Barbadoes grantley adams int.Waited 2 hours at the virgin check in,horrible cafe, waited half an hour at security and an extremely small and hot departure lounge with only one fire exit. And all the flights were delayed.

RE: The Best Airport in the world
My favourite to fly from has to be Orlando International. Followed by Manchester (Terminal 2 anyway) which is great. On the subject of the med / canaries they are all pretty basic and most don’t include air conditioning (exception of Malta Luqa) so it can get very warm and uncomfortable, but they are improving, Lanzarote being an example.
Agree with the points about Heathrow being too congested, great for viewing but a nightmare to fly from. Gatwick was horrible and congested a few years ago and I’ll be flying from there next week so we’ll see if it has improved.

RE: The Best Airport in the world
I am not impressed at big airports. Lots of connections but incovenient for everyone. Long corridors, congested lounges, big, big, big but not nice at all. Regional airports are hassle free, convenient, human and nice. I love airports like Liverpool or London City Airport. One can make good use of the time by late boarding. In Spain there are lots of lovely terminals in which one can board even 15 minutes before departure. I get 45 minutes before my flight here. You have to fly Bilbao, brand new and as spectacular as Guggenheim. Nice is LCG as well and mamy others. Barcelona is nice, not too big and with lots of destinations. The worst are Palma and Madrid with lots of delays, time missing and km from each terminal.

First there was a stray (?????) who was cold an he started a fire in a toilet that went out of control.
and last saturday the burger king blew up!

RE: The Best Airport in the world
Birmingham is my favourite. Nice terminals and some interesting take offs can be witnessed from it’s shortish main runway. I also grew up living next to this airport, so it has a sort of ‘sentimental’ value attached to it.
I love Heathrow too. So much variation in traffic, you never know what you will see next.
