That “Nice Gay colour” as you put it is called Damson Purple, and is the most desirable colour for S14a 200SXs.

A bit late with this one, but I once had an Armstrong-Siddeley Typhoon, built in 1947 – the year I was born. There were four different models based on the same chassis; in addition to the Typhoon (two-door fixed-head coupe) there was the Hurricane (two-door drophead coupe), plus the Lancaster and Whitley, both four-door saloons. Armstrongs were an odd breed in the post WW2 motoring market, not the luxury end like Rolls or Bentley, nor designed for speed like Jaguar – just a “gentleman’s tourer”. You had to be satisfied with that, having just a two litre engine in a car that weighed nearly two tons – 0-60 took about 25 seconds.
I bought mine in 1969 for £100, when it had about 20,000 miles on the clock. Eight enjoyable and largely reliable years later, I sold it for £500 having just about doubled the mileage. I often wish I could have just kept it jacked up in a garage over the winter, taking it out for a run on summer weekends, but marriage and children changed the priorities. Estimated value now between £8-10k …

Most fun – Nissan Silvia…I only sold it because it was so easy to speed that I got rid of her as I needed a licence to tow my glider trailer : )
Equal most fun was my old 1964 MGB ragtop (3 bearing crank engine ) and repaired using Victor Flap skins etc ; )
Most economical was a Ford Escort 1.6 diesel…quite easy to get 65 mpg but horrible car to drive and would not pull a Rigger off your Granny !!

Why ruin a perfectly good performance car with a soft top? Its something I have never even considered.

Hmmm, S’pose one could dump the rag top and put a hard top on, however, buying a rag top is more expensive than a hard top, so it would be a sort of trade off.if you think the S.T. is a good bargain.

A), Because possibly a lot of us are older that you.
B) Because I have always been passionate about cars, I couldn’t even begin to think how many cars I have owned, but with warts and all, I have enjoyed every one of them.In fact, when I finaly blow my head gasket, and my engine seizes up, they can bury me in my current car……………………………………..:D

How did you people get to own so many cars!
I have only owned two cars. A Ford Sierra and a Mondeo. I had the Sierra 7 years and the Mondeo 14.
Sierra has to be my favorite car (I’ve also driven an Audi A3, VW Passat and Fiesta).
Favorite because it was my first car. The Mondeo’s not bad either. Guess I’m just not very into cars.

The unalterable rule of soft-tops is that eventually they all leak. Only for fans of the damp carpet smell.

Moggs, I have been looking at a car, the same as your number 1, but which is a rag top, as a matter of interest, what, if your car was a rag top and not a hard top, would the soft top cost to replace?, on that model.
