Excellent Flash presentation:

Now my question, what are your views on the 747? No holds barred. Let rip with your personal feelings.. but please try an keep things base mostly on fact.

I dunno who did that flash. It appears to be recently done. Doesn’t have quite the tone of Boeing. Perhaps a third party.

Very cool presentation, thanks for sharing.
I was suprised at the blunt “we’re better than the A380” aspect of some of those slides. At least publicly, Boeing hasn’t seemed to do much A380 bashing.

What would its designation be, 747-400(advanced)? Or perhaps -400ER(advanced), or neither? -500 series, perhaps? What is a realistic launch date for it, given a few orders?
unknown.
Research into the Advanced 747 has as far as I know only been purely speculative.
I would imagine 2010-2012, if they start development soon after the 7E7 begins scheduled service.
Theoretically it would take all that long to develop. Just the research and testing of fitting the new technology into the existing 747-400 frame.

Just what does the 747advanced entail? I was very intrigued by the range capability on the flash media presentation, especially on these city pairs:
747-400
SIN-YVR. I had no idea the baseline -400 had this capability747-400ER
SIN-LAX. Did Boeing ever make a push at selling the ER to SQ for this very purpose?
JFK-BKK. WOW!
The Advanced 747 would generally entail a gutting of the current 747 to its basic frame and refitting it with all new interiors, avionics, fuel managment and engines using technology gleaned from the 7E7 development. (it wouldn’t be too wrong the theorise the 747 will then have the same engine interchangability as the 7E7 will)
By using 7E7 technoloy the 747 has the potential of increased range, more space in the cabin as components get smaller.
Using the lighter materials used to contruct the 7E7 will help in making a 747 Advanced lighter than the current 400ER version increasing its range further.
Using a combination the newest available engines and newest fuel managment systems will increase fuel efficiency even further and thus range.
Thats the basic idea anyway.

I am a huge Airbus fan.I prefer all airbus aircraft planes over Boeings but nothing in this world compares to the 747-400.There isnt a word tro describe it no matter how hard you look. When i see one all I can say is F***.

Thats what they say about the A380.
At the end of the day, no one on the forums here can say if its going to work or not. We just don;t have the PHD’s to back any claims like that 😉

They need something to compete with the A380 and offering an aircraft between the seating capacity of the current B747 and A380 with extended range shouldnt be a bad idea. But i am not sure if its going to work.

The B747 is a living legend……. Boeing is in last phase of planning the B747 Advanced these days i think.
That what I have heard too.
I read somewhere that a few airline engineers were quoted as saying that there is no need for a replacement. Upgrade the interior, the avionics and engines to 7E7 standards at a tenth of the cost of developing a replacement and you have a perfectly modernised and marketable Jumbo
