The Campile raid in Co Wexford,Ireland

On the 26th of August 1940 the villages of Campile and Ambrosetown in Co Wexford ,Ireland were bombed in broad daylight by two German He 111s.

Three women were killed, the target was a Co-op creamery.
The raid appears to have been deliberate and there is much speculation as to the reason.

Does any one know what Luftwaffe units were involved and possibly who the aircrew involved were?

A memorial to those who died in the raid was opened today.
