The Cherry Red saga!

Okay, as promised, for the benefit of those of us who have an interest in such esoteric matters, we return (briefly!) to the Sea Prince thread…

After investigating this matter with my colleagues (including Neil Robinson and Paul Lucas), it seems that BS831C 538 was indeed described as Post Office Red. This continued until 1988 when the British Standards Institution changed the same to “Cherry” – not “Cherry Red” but simply “Cherry” from then onwards.

Hope this clears-up a minor mystery!:)
