The Classic Flight

In this months Flypast or Aeoplane there was an article saying its staying put, additionally they are erecting a fence to fence it off from the main airport so as to allow people access to what was previously Airside to be able to view the Aircraft, Coventry is actually open for freight and light stuff now and there is a consortium form Switzerland interested in it to develop both it and part of the field…… there is also one expressing an interest in turning it into a quarry!…..see PPrune for the thread on the airports future. Bet those that moaned at the idea of a terminal nearby which made Thompson pull out and the rot set in will be horrified at a quarry next door……….. serves them bloody right!

Last I heard they are staying at Coventry but whether that will continue to be the case I’m not sure.

Shame though that Thompson had indeed been flying in and out under a trial to see if it generated any complaints which it didn’t, it was only when they mentioned the Terminal and regular flights ( which the trials I believe simulated) that they got some complaints……. Surely moving it over more to passenger flights would have reduced the amount of traffic from older generation freighters that were using the place already.

Trouble is it’s people who live some miles away from the airport (eg under take-off, circuit and approach) who are most voiciferous in opposition to the airport.

Here’s an idea, suggest the airport be used for nuclear waste storage or a prison, then the idea of an airport might look better :>)
