A marvellous way to commemorate the sacrifices by our American friends:

Having seen it here in the US, I thought it was remarkable. Here are some other trailers:

And some before/after comparisons, between the original and the restored footage used in the documentary (note that not only are the colors far more vivid/true to life, but the film itself is now presented in its original, much higher fidelity than that we have been used to seeing):

Thursday July 4th at my local cinema

I’ve been fortunate enough to get a TV look at the whole film in order to review it for a magazine (not FlyPast!). There certainly is a lot of new footage in there, including an extended version of the contrails as used in the original Memphis Belle. A mesmerising sequence which will look fantastic on a big screen. The digital improvement of the badly faded original footage is little short of miraculous. I was so impressed that I promptly booked a seat at the local cinema showing on 4 July. My only real criticism is that the music is sometimes obtrusive. I can understand why Sabrejet is dismissive having viewed only the trailer, but I urge him and everybody else interested in the 8th to go and see it. I doubt if there will ever be another cinema opportunity and I don’t think you will be disappointed!

Lovely idea but the trailer didn’t feature anything ‘never seen before’ (whatever that means).

A fitting tribute of a nightmarish time.
