I remember, “The Night before Christmas” is the inspirational poem.

I think that just about completes it.

Apologies to 92fis, for pinching your thread 🙂

It was your title and some other famous poem, I know not which, I can only remember the general stanza, that inspired me.

No worries, nicely done. 🙂

The Day before Legends

The Day before Legends

The day before Legends
Nothing was calm
There were Spitfires and Mustangs all over the Farm
And the occasional Foxmoth quite full of charm

Biplanes and Triplanes
Flew hither and yon
There was even a couple
with no wings left on

There were Trimotors, Bimotors
monomotors too
But none with a jet on
were allowed into view

Merlins and Wrights
covered the field
And even a Major or two
Had to yield

A Seafire came in
Her pilot had fun
They parked up near Susy
A P51

As evening drew near, a tragedy – Oh Dear
Germaine Greer, a Lady to Fear,
started beating her chest
‘cos some luckless pilot, quite full of zest
Sliced the top off her chimney brest

But I’m such a fraud
I’m such a heel
I was at Yeovilton
Now how’d you feel?
