dark light

The end of the world.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/11/30/nasa_denies_death_for_all_on_dec_21/

“In particular I’m concerned about the young people who write to me and say they are terribly afraid, they say they can’t sleep, they can’t eat. Some of them have said they are contemplating suicide.”

I always find it ammusing that people would rather kill themselves than wait and see if they will be killed?
Personally I think I’ll wait. However should the world end before Christmas what should I do with my presents?

Snapper, Forgot to mention, instead of hooking the Whiting through the lip, next time, try putting the hook straight through, just behind the dorsal fin,

Jim.

Not tried that Jim. That bass took a lip-hooked 8 inch whiting on a single 4/0 running leger; I was after a stray tope. I lost one the same size a couple of years before, and a double cod but it wasn’t the end of the world. Which brings me back to the thread…sorry for drift!

Great catch Snapper, fish these days, of this size are usualy caught when wreck fishing. I remember the days when beach fishing from the Norfolk coast, you would almost certainly be guaranteed a 10 pounder.
Have you tried a tandem rig, with a small pouting or whiting on the top hook, and without any weight, just freelined it?.
A 6.0 on the bottom, with a 3.0 just above with the live bait fish on it, works well.

It’s not. She would have been but…I guess the hook pulled too. the relevance is that the text was from her.

Here’s one from the Telegraph from a fella I know:

You should have seen the Cod that got away on Cromer pier, it was a good double figure one, one of the lads went to get the drop net, but some idiot had nicked it. I tried to wind it up, but the 6.0 fine wire hook just ripped itself out and it dropped back into the sea. And that’s no fishermans tale 😉

I guess the lady is your wife, it’s nice when you both have, and enjoy the same hobbies.

What lady?

No idea what it weighed, this one went 10.5lb according to the length/weight ratio.

Many years ago I used to spend my summer holiday at a place called Thornham. My Father thought it was a good idea to send me out shrimping in the Wash with the locals. “B” awful time I had doing that. Even on shore the wind could cut you in half even in August. I hate Norfolk!

Paul, when I used to fish from many areas of Norfolk it was awful, just think of fishing matches we had in Jan and Feb. enough to freeze the bal** off a brass monkey;) and that was with wearing a survival suit.
So I know what you mean.

They’re around Great Yarmouth, which happens to resemble the end of civilisation most days. It’s an utter hole. I’m usually between Lowestoft and there but do hit other parts of the country/world at times.

Honestly Snapper, I took more notice of the Bass in the photo of the young lady
who was holding it:diablo:
What did it weigh?, it’s a cracker for a Bass from that area of Norfolk.

I mean come on, who would want this world to end?

I actually thought I WAS going to get it after all, a few hours later. the sea turned nasty, this big black cloud came over and the sea got nastier and I told my mate I was paddling home (he was in a ‘proper’ boat, I wa sin my kayak). So, 4 miles through a right ******* bit of water, surfing waves a mile offshore because I had no choice, surfing into the beach (bloody beautifully as it happened). I figiured some entity had decided to get ironic with my ****.

But i brought home fresh cod and then fetched my surf kayak, went back and rode some more waves…then stood at the top of the ramp looking at the sets rolling in and decided that i’d like the world to end every day because it was ******* awesome.

I still can’t believe that so many believed it was true, well, all except TonyT who used it as an excuse to stock up on booze 😀

Scientists have managed to decode the remaining portion of the Myan tablet. The tablet now reads

“End of the World Sale Now on!
Thousands of reductions, thousands of bargains, from spears to head bands.
See village totem for more information.
But hurry, the end of the world sale ends on December 21st!”
