Im doing some reaserch and collecting infomation at the moment for a futur e project. Can anyone tell me the serial numbers of all 9 of the Lightnings that flew on that day. I also realy need photos of them all showing the markings clearly, they dont have to be from that day as i remember everyone saying how awfull the weather was. Where they all in their stadard markings or where they special painted?

Ollie, Did you ever finish the Memphis Belle project you started years ago that people helped you with? i looked on your website but that isn’t isn’t working either.
Be nice to see some updates on the finished work:)
I look forward to seeing this when it’s completed, the lightning was rather special.:)
The Memphis Belle project is always a work in progress. As soon as i can get a job the website will be back online and in a new style.

i often mean to ask you andy.
do you guys ever dream about flying your birds again? is it something thats always at the back of your minds?
ben 🙂
Ben, simple answers ‘no’ and ‘never’, just to look after them get the shed finished which will act as a permanant museum for them, keep them running as long as is safely possible and to enjoy our hobby with as many other like minded people as possible 😉
Simple as that really, no stress or bother
Cheers

Aircraft in the 9 ship were I think 728 JS, 919 BB, 725 BA, 923 BD, 773 BR, 898 BL, 899 BE, 770 AA, Cant remember the last one, I might be wrong, Im sure others will correct me
Some of the stars of the ‘nine ship’
These two, XS923 BD and XR773 BR were not part of the 11 ship scramble or 9 ship formation on the day, they stayed on the ground.
