The first ever size 16 girl to take part in the Miss England

size 16 girl In Miss England Final
Chloe Marshall, a 17-year-old ex-beautician from Surrey, is set to turn modelling convention around by becoming the first ever size 16 girl to take part in a Miss England final. The BBC suggests she’s making history which, in the week that America got healthcare reform and the UK launched a new space agency, seems like a fair assessment.

The 5ft 10in, 12st 5lb and a 36E model points out that the average UK woman is a size 16 and says past efforts to drop in dress size weren’t for her:

“Last year I went on a really strict diet and got down to a size 12, but I just looked like skin and bones, it didn’t suit me.
“I eat healthily, I go to the gym a lot. This is just the size I’m meant to be.”

Why do we even have a Miss England contest these days? I can’t find any info on the Miss England website that tells me what the point of the competition is. If it’s to celebrate the hottest girls in England, that seems obviously dated. If it’s to pay tribute to the character and inspirational efforts of the average English woman, why aren’t there more girls like Chloe Marshall getting through to the finals?

I don’t really have a particular preference- at risk of being stoned and abused, if it’s someone I can have a good laugh with, and is a genuine, nice, intelligent lass then I’m happy. My exes have varied from what some of the crueller forumites would, I suspect, label as short and round, to tall, blonde and shall we say very easy on the eye.
A lass can be the most beautiful person you’ve ever seen, but that only counts for so much.
Go on, jeer away then guys. 😉

Where’s the guy going to get purchase with his crowbar’s what worries me!

Good luck to you, Tornado – I have a picture in my mind of the guy with the crowbar!:D

But I don’t think there is any brainwashing going on. Blokes have always preferred what theyn prefer and I can’t see that there’s a problem having a light-hearted debate about it. After all men have ogled the pin-ups of the 40s through Bardot and Fonda to the page 3 girls of the 80s to now, so enjoying looking at a “well-proportioned” girl is nothing new.

you would need a crowbar to get me off her !! she’s lovely

i have always had the opinion there are no women that are ugly , some are better than others obviously

but as a red blooded chap there’s none i’d turn my nose up at

i feel it is a shame some only view beauty as a size and not all the other redeeming qualities

it is a shame the uk and us particularly have this view

i have had to watch two wonderfull young girls battle anorexia !

ironicaly my girlfriends have always been around size 10 but just because it fell that way not because i wouldn’t have dated a larger lady !!

somehow i feel it is more a problem with media brainwashed minds in our countries with little else to ocupy them that we should even be discussing this !!

Yes it is..but it looks like the general consensus here is she should have the stick thin body of a Supermodel and the face of the Madonna..sad really

I would have said the consensus was the opposite of that. I can’t look at the wafer thin models, neither do I enjoy big women, but for sure there is a place for both in the perpetual mystery of what it is about a woman that attracts us.

That’s not true at all, Steve. I’d much rather have have a girl with a bit of meat on her bones than some scrawny wench that looks like she’s escaped a concentration camp.

But, really, it’s not the most flattering photo of the girl in question. It’d be like me posing for a “beach hunks” calendar or something…!

Personally speaking, I’d rather see her than the anorexic, stick-thin “supermodels” that “grace” the pages of the so-called fashion magazines.

I find her wholesome, hot and chubby soft. Sold!

😉

As it happens, my last long-term relationship was with someone who was about a size 16, and of course I found her very attractive.

She had better boobs for a start! :diablo:

I think this is OLD news. It was reported on another site and, after a little digging, was found to be a story some two years old!

Don’t think she won then? 😀

Kind of makes all us arguing pointless…………:diablo:

I’m lucky to have stumbled onto a thread where we can all be picky. I assume the rest of the contributers are as hunky as me. By the way, that’s not an avatar I’ve posted.

On the other hand, I do have to tell you a joke about ugly girls.

They’re like mopeds – great fun, but you wouldn’t want your mates to see you with one.

It’s OK to tell jokes about ugly girls, ‘cos none of them are going to say, ‘Hey, I’m ugly and I object to that joke.’

We seem to have a lot of perfect people around this evening….. 😎

Ah, we’re not the one’s stripping down to our shreddies, letting it all hang out for the world to look at. When people put themselves on public display like this there will be criticism. I’m a fat ugly old git (and know it!) however, I do know a Spitfire is a beautiful aeroplane and a B52 is an big one.

She ain’t no Spitfire

(nor am I)

This gives out a message that being over weight is ok. Which is just as bad as using skin and bone super models in magazines. There are scientifically calculated BMI if needed but we all know what weight we should be.

Ben

There is some evidence that being slightly overweight is actually better for you than being super-skinny.
Whatever, life’s too short to be worrying constantly about what you eat.
Anyway,I’m not overweight,I’m just underheight.

She’s still small by comparison with my other half who doesn’t even have the advantage of being that tall to help carry it off. I think she’s a size 20/22 and 5’4″ no wonder I don’t dare argue.
