The Gathering Storm – Winston Churchill

I watched The Gathering Storm (HBO/BBC 2002) today on video. It is based on Sir Winston Churchill’s book of the same name, and it is incredibly good. Albert Finney is superb in the role of Winston.

Anyway, I looked up the film on IMDb and a message on the site says on the DVD version in an interview one of the producers says they intend to make a number of sequels and cover all five of Churchills books. It would be simply fantastic if they did.

Imagine the Battle of Britain covered in such a way. This film was incredibly well made and seemingly very accurate, plus superbly cast and well acted. So maybe another great Battle of Britain epic is going to be made very soon.

Does anyone know any more? Will the sequels get made? I really, really hope so.

Hello Dave 🙂 I had not heard/read anything about any sequels being made, but it was certainly a ratings success when shown here, and has been repeated at least twice since it was originally shown, so I guess the BBC may well be prepared to made a sequel/sequels to it (if the BBC is prepared to make two series of the most dire sitcom ever made “Eyes Down”, then it can surely cough up for something like this)
