Not sure if we have looked at this before, but I was sent the link today.
Barely historic admittedly , but there MIGHT be FSM Spit in one of the scenes !
”Written & Directed by Nick Ryan

10 minute short film
thegermanmovie.com
A British fighter pilot pursues the german ace that shot down his friend across sky and country… with murder in mind. But he discovers it’s not so easy to kill a man when you have to look them in the eye
This was funded by an Irish Film Board scheme called ‘Short Cuts’ and was shot in November 2007. The Budget was €70K, and was used entirely on the live action components of the film – leaving a grand total of ZERO for visual effects!
I completed all the visual effects shots, over 120 in total, entirely by myself here at Image Now Films. Dave Head modelled the aircraft (and truck), but I textured, lit, animated and composited the shots over a six month period in 2008.”

As with many such projects, it demonstrates a lack of research, to get the aircraft exactly right.
Its nicely done, but too many errors on the aircraft for me.
Yes, I can tell its CGI, and No, I wouldnt know where to start!

As a little aside, the Me 109 seems based upon W.Nr 1190, White 4, flown by Uffz Horst Perez and shot down on 30 September 1940. Later owned by my late friend Peter Foote the aircraft may now be seen at IWM, Duxford. However…it didn’t quite get to Eire! Only just made it to a spot not far from Beachy Head!!

“So let’s spend a gazillion hours making a great short movie but totally ignore the fact that a Me109 can’t fly all the way to Eire…”
“Makes sense, let’s do it.”

I found it an excellent first class short however, and this is not a criticism of the film itself but rather the hosting site, – I found it unwatchable (stuttery) in firefox and had to resort to IE6.
A splendid effort all the same, I look forward to seeing more.

If you want to get into film making as director/producer, CGI is the skill you must learn, because it’s extremely expensive to get others to do, and having that skills gives you the edge over other film-makers. Not sure if anyone has seen Monsters, made for around $500,000, but the director (Gareth Edwards) did all the CGI work himself and a saved a packet.

Now wouldn’t be good to see a film about Operation Jericho (filmed entirely using CGI and green screen). The film “The German” cost EUR 70,000 for ten minutes – that’s around 700,000 for a feature film, which is an absolute bargain.
Another film I’d like to see is one detailing the life of Hanna Reitsch…

You did the visual effects yourself? (I don’t mean to sound surprised but your post doesn’t make it clear. :))
Overall it is very impressive; particularly considering the budget!
The visual effects in particular put a typical ‘blockbuster’ on the same subject completely to shame!
