It’s obvioush no one really nowse much here.
I am willing to make a big sacrifice and volunteer for the job of evaluating each one and writing up a fullsh report on each. Hic.

I’ve not been there, but the Ferry Inn at Horning, Norfolk has great connections with Coltishall. It was used as the local watering hole by personnel from Coltishall and Bob Stanford Tuck narrowly escaped with his life after leaving there very shortly before it suffered a direct hit.

Extending the area somewhat, the Kings Arms at Cardington (Beds) has some R101 photos on the walls. There’s also the airship’s flag in the church, and the victims’ memorial in the cemetery.
The Victoria (Walton Street, Oxford) we discovered at lunchtime today has a large – quarter- or fifth-scale, I reckon – Hawker Fury biplane hanging from the ceiling. No apparent reason, it just is!
The Red Lion at Bassingbourn used to have a substantial collection of photos from the airfield. However it has now suffered the fate of so many pubs in the last few years and become an Indian restaurant and I have no idea what happened to the photos.

I dont know if the Bell at Cotton End is still open? It looked very run down last time i drove past. I havent been in there since the late 1970’s, when I worked on its thatched roof. It did have a lot of good airship photos.

Sorry mate, it is now a house. Still looks like a pub, but it’s been converted
Matt
Very sad to hear that!
I understand that it was Guy Gibson’s watering hole while he was stationed there in 1941!
For old times sake here is a facsimilie of the old pub sign…..

I believe the Mitre in Cambridge is a GK establishment.
By: maffie - 10th September 2010 at 18:35
Does anyone know if “The Startled Saint” still exists at West Malling?
I believe at one time it was within the boundary of the airfield and the pub sign depicted St Leonard being buzzed by Spitfires!

Holton ‘Triple Plea’ just outside of Halesworth in Suffolk has lots of photo’s on the walls of P-47’s and B-24’s which were based a few hundred yards down the road at Holton airfield during WW2.
Plus they serve real ale guest beers 😀
Cheers – Graham

Navenby
If I recall Gibson and his new wife stayed at the Lion and Royal in Navenby (just down the ridge from Waddington).
This was the place where he gave the landlords wife a salmon to cook for them and she deep fried it.
