At 0603 hours, 16 August 1942, the US Navy blimp L-8 left the base at Treasure Island, San Francisco, California, on a routine patrol mission over the Pacific. Later that day, she landed in the middle of a residential street in the SF suburb of Daly City, California. The L-8’s two crewmen was missing — and were never seen nor heard from again.
