I’d like to check the actual colour in real life too. One can’t rely on screen reproduction 😮

She can bring her box round to my place any time.

Not sure where your seeing the Canberra nosebowl Fouga!
Just a guess 🙂 Didn’t look original Lancaster to me. Just like the astrodome.

Young Kitty is a member of the RAF Forum, good but not so good for the Blood Pressure:p

That’s Jeremy Hall’s cockpit isn’t it?
Fantastic time capsule, although he built it himself (there was an article in fp IIRC) it looks to be as if it was never tinkered with after demob.
Wonder how he is able to transport it on the bomb trolley across Britain. He is located in Egham I think. He also owns a Lancaster fuselage mockup that was at Brooklands.
Cheers

It’s her box. She can have it any colour she likes.
I’m fed up with people nitpicking when an owner takes the time and trouble to preserve a classic box for all of us to enjoy and then somebody moans about the colour.

There you go, my point entirely. According to “Bomber Command Boxes of the Second World War” – vol 72, Early Safeway green was standard on all home delivery to Germany until just before the Lancaster entered service. Afterwards it was a mixed of light Tesco blue on the sides and Morrison/Dark Earth on top. (Trolley markings were Standard Mk IV roundels).
If only he had consulted an expert.
(Yep, its a slow Friday :p)

This cockpit section is a very impressive piece. Only the external use of wire rather solid rivets giving the game away that this is not the genuine article. Clearly there is much original material here.

Just one quid per ‘MEW’?

I think the box is a JML super box and available at all good retails like asda, Wilkinson’s, Robert Dyas 🙂

Box? Which box? 😉

Isn’t the Morrison one the model that goes under the kitchen table for those who don’t have gardens?

It looks like an early Safeway one to me. Quite rare. Hard to get these days. They are now all of the later Morrison pattern.
