Well, like Webby says, here’s part 2!
Same drill as before, ladies and germs.

Yes, NEVER seen this one until today – thank you Channel 5! ๐
I’m sure you all know the plot by now. Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood infiltrate a castle in the Bavarian Alps in order to rescue a faux American general supposedly in possession of plans for the Second Front. However, not everything is as it seems!
I actually really enjoyed this – think I need the DVD now. It’s the sort of war film they don’t make any more!

One of my childhood faves:

I know the effects are a bit ropey compared to the CGI-fests we have these days, and I know the Messerschmitts aren’t proper Messerschmitts (they’re Bf108s, not ‘109s) – but I don’t care!! This is one of my all-time faves, and a fun watch! And I’m a bit disappointed in myself that I don’t have the theme tune as a ringtone!
Oh, and just seen the new Quantum of Solace trailer. Oh. My. God. ๐ฎ ๐

Recently got myself a canoe (no more hassle with the rentals, and finally the means to do a longer trip), so it just had to be
Deliverance
from the day when Burt Reynolds was still cool, Jon Voigt still young, and rednecks still evil rather than misunderstood Duke Boys. And it’s a great film with a wonderful pace throughout. Sometimes painfully slow, sometimes way fast, just like your canoe trip. Lovely scenic bits, great characters, intense psychology… A rightful classic, not just the cult classic it seems to be.

Kill Bill
Both films, back to back, last night. I must admit that, despite the first volume being superior (in my opinion), I’m admiring the second one more and more.

the mummy three!!! the film rock’s (well as much as a mummy movie can:diablo:) the beaufighter cgi look awsome and even tho it’s converted to a transport the must have been an aussie on the fx team as it was still in weathered raaf marking’s(green ghost sqdrn sk-n)the sound wasnt as beefy as i thought a beau should be but great to see all the same.

The Karate Kid
Not my ideal viewing fare, but as my housemate’s boyfriend is into Tae Kwon Do, or whatever it is, he was in his element.
No-hoper meets all-knowing master, trains, kicks bad kid’s ass. The end.

“Doomsday”.
I was surprised to find that the Super Frelon used in one of the scenes was a restored aircraft, which later (circa May 10, 2007) crashed and was written off while helping to extinguish a forest fire.
It was ZS-HTN, which means, I presume, that Doomsday was at least partially filmed in South Africa. Funny that, as the film is set partly in London but mostly in Scotland!

Final Destination 3
More of the same, only a few more imaginative deaths.

The second in the series which caused a national uproar when a daffodil replaced a thermometer-look out behind!Classic Brit comedy!

9. Rota
or, as you non-Slavophiles might know it,
9th Company
Not too bad of a war-flic, and a high-value production flic dealing with the Soviets in Afghanistan was definately something we didn’t have yet. Unfortunately, some scenes have become so incredibly clichรฉ over the last two decades (as we’ve all seen Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Jarhead just to name a few) that 9. Rota at moments looks like a complete ripoff. Combined with an ending that’s way, way, way over the top it’s not as good as I had hoped for. Still pretty decent, and a fun way to wipe some rust of my Russian.

Final Destination
Death stalks a group of teenagers who get off an airliner after one of them has a premonition of the plane exploding soon after take-off.
Has its moments.
Final Destination 2
As above, although a little more silly than the first (the opening freeway crash scene is pretty extravagant!).

Carry On Sergeant.
The first of a long line of classic British comedy films. The Kenneth’s Williams and Connor and Charles Hawtrey are muck-about misfits who become the hilarious bane of their Sargent’s existence when he makes a bet that he will turn them into real soldiers-or bust.

The Invasion
Ah, let’s do an ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’-remake. Again. And again, it’s nowhere near as worthwile as the original one (or the very decent 1978 one). Still, if you want to see Nicole Kidman in undies, you might enjoy it. I didn’t really.

Anyway, last film I watched was a classic:
