Harry Brown
Unpleasant, yet gritty drama set in a rundown council estate, where Michael Caine and his friend are terrorised by local yobs. When his friend is killed in an attack by the chavs, Sir Michael goes to dish out his own kind of punishment.
Not bad, I thought. Not bad at all.
The Hangover and Role Models – still funny as hell…
Im in the middle of this at the moment, bloody hell :eek::eek:. Hardcore film for Michael Caine!!! Christian Bale, eat your heart out!

The Invasion of the 9ft alien cat people….
…or Avatar, as it’s better known, landed on my doorstep this morning while I was out with the horses.
Guess what I’ll be watching at some point this week….. 😉

the damned united…
I’m a tad too young to remember the headlines, but Clough well all know. I love my football and I read this book a few years ago and loved it. The film is a well made, entertaining look at an odd age in England (and English football)

Managed to get my copy of The Boat That Rocked back off the ex today without scratches or molestation (to me or the DVD), so mustn’t grumble…

I actually quite enjoyed this. 90-odd minutes flew by amid all the swords-and-sandals ass-kicking.

its worth it for the line about having him “Keel hauled, and thats serious on an aircraft carrier”.
Plus the A-6, A-1 footage…..
2-1 then, not bad !
By: DazDaMan - 20th April 2010 at 16:47
No, there was Flight of the Intruder which I enjoyed, too… 😉

I like buying DVDs “blind” occasionally – or on recommendation. If they suck, they’re next month’s car boot fodder! :diablo:

As I paid £13 for it, I made damn sure I was gonna watch all of it!!
always risk when you buy movies unseen, I used up a gift voucher on two blu-rays, “Hurt Locker” – which I really enjoyed, and “Most Wanted” which was pretty poor, two for £25 offer, you pays your money, you takes your choice…

At the end of the film when everybody was cheering the hero (who incidently was a part of the group that broke the damn door in the first place) I found myself cheering because it was the end of the film.
Not a fan of the soppy end credits song then? 😀
According to Google, it was by Adam Lambert, American Idol 2009 winner. At least they got a respected, accomplished artist to sing it.
“Every kiss I can’t forget
This aching heart ain’t broken yet
Oh God I wish I could make you see
Cause I know this flame isn’t dying
So nothing can stop me from trying”
Beautiful… *cries*

I seriously think you’ve missed your calling as a critic, Baz! :diablo:
By: spitfireman - 20th April 2010 at 14:43
But apart from that Baz, it was Ok !?
I felt the same way when I saw it but couldn’t seem to find the “off” button either.

Oh yeah, the step father was learning to fly Cessnas, yet able to fly low level in a (more) complex twin, to a standard that Guy Gibson would have been proud of!

In short, there are so many reasons why this film is terrible that it may actually be quite good.
er……no.
Just terrible

2012
Way too long, unconvincing flying scenes, unconvincing story line, unconvincing science to story line, under acted, over acted. Not bothered if they lived or died. Building the equivalent of 8 QEIIs (twice the size) 20,000′ up a mountain in the middle of nowhere?…….logistics……..with no one knowing? …….sky not blotted out for 500 years?……no 10,000 year ice age?……atmosphere not burnt off? Transporting wildlife underslung from choppers with a wind chill of minus 60 degrees, Giraffes….from Africa? If you microwave lava, would it react? Is it organic? Would continents move 1,500 miles in an hour?
more plot holes than Braveheart!
*here be spoilers*
😀
I loved ‘2012’, simply because of the reasons you stated. The “right in the face” camera as the Russian guy (who had all the best bad lines) falls to his death, “Howieeeeeee!” as the tidal wave hits, Danny Glover recovering in time to see the JFK aircraft carrier hit the White House (what a coincidence on both counts, especially when you consider a) how much sea there is and b) that everyone else around him had died), the complete lack of any reason to care about anyone, the step-father getting the James Bond villain death treatment in the ship’s cogs, the blonde Russian with the dog drowning but nobody caring, the family getting over the step-father’s death in about 20 seconds…I could go on, but I’d be here all day.
In short, there are so many reasons why this film is terrible that it may actually be quite good. 😮
Oh, and on the DVD release, the ‘making of’ documentary is brilliant. I laughed out loud at some of the cast’s comments about how deep the script and characters, with Roland Emmerich saying that the film is really a character study, or something ridiculous like that.
