They’ll still have the FRADU Hawks Dave, though it would be much better if they were Hunters!
The FAA may still have one or two Harrier T.8s on strength next year as well.

A Harrier to join the Historic Flight? Yes please. :diablo:

Both the Mk.I (W5856) and Mk.II (LS326) Swordfish have corrosion in their wing spars, thus grounding them.
LS326 should be back in 2006, but it is dependant on BAE-Systems finishing the repairs in time.
Work on the Hawks and Harriers etc. takes priority, so it’s a case of only working when manpower is available.

Nah… thats just another RAF jet in RN markings 😀 😀

Whats the story on the lack of Swordfish ? Maybe year after next.. T or F ?

Is that an engineering problem or budgetary constraints ?

Still at least next years event, the Navy will have one fixed wing jet left to display… the Seahawk 😮

Yes, the JP T.5 that normally resides at Yeovilton (dunno the tail number) did display as a last minute stand-in for Hercules.

The JP that displayed was Mk.5A XW289 G-JPVA, owned by Kennet Aviation.
It was flown by John Beattie, who also flew the Skyraider later on.

Lamps, you caught it right when you went to the loo then, at one point there was a line along one side of the Concorde Hall for the ladies toilet there. The SA 747 was very good, first time I had seen it, very pleased I did, will think of the display when I fly in a 747 next month, as for the Harriers, what you saw is basically all thats left airworthy, with a couple in the static

Thanks mate, I used the toilets in the museum when the 747 was displaying 😡 😮 dam hehe

I took my camera along, i’ll post a couple of my pictures later. They are pretty much all static shots (i aint very good at getting them in the sky either 😉 ) with some of the helicopters at the end of the show.

But more so than normal on this occasion perhaps ?

Dunno.
Was a standard can of Coke or bottle of water selling for £2? A cone of chips for £2.50? Burgers going for £5? I’ve sat in my car for several hours going in and coming out of Fairford so am immune to moans about parking ‘chaos’…;)

Did the Strikemaster or JP display?

Nine Sea Harriers bowing farewell. Oh, well may be another time?

I did hear that a JayPee was gonna replace a Hercules in the program, and i didn’t see a Herk, but i ~think~ i spied a JayPee 5. Maybe somebody else on the display line can confirm ?

Yes, nine SHAR’s would have been good, but alas that really is the last of the last. 🙁

Nice pics, shame about the organisation going for a ball of chalk though. Unfortunately I was not able to attend

Any Harrier flying is a fine sight but I was expecting the Royal Navy to make a maximum effort on the day.

A nine ship would have put the Reds to shame.

Well considering that the Audrey Heulin Agency (is that how they spell it ?) has put next years event in doubt as they weren’t making enough profit, i think the 50% attendance increase (according to Sean Moffett) may make them re-consider.

Still a cracking day out, but lacking a bit on foreign participation.

Heck not even a Dutch F-16 and thats a first !!

Not enough toilets, over priced food & water etc, etc…. and that ‘final’ Harrier display left me thinking “is that it ?” :dev2:

It took me an hour and a half to get from Sparkford roundabout into the car park. Nobody seemed to controlling the traffic and eventually we were joined by two other streams of traffic presumably from over flowing carparks.

Why did they park the Dead Sparrows on that ramp when they could have put the Sea Harriers there? I remember when they put out all the RN Chipmunks on static display when Roborough was changing over, why didn’t they tow the SHars over from the other side?

No doubt the Red Arrows were put there as the majority of the public would rather see them than the Shars, as for the traffic, again the organisers paid for marshalls, wonder where they went to?

Totally agree about the toilets, the company that runs the show trying to save money, Traffic, not much you can do about that due to the local roads, More Harriers, chaps thats all there is, only 8 airworthy at the moment I believe, plus 3 T8’s

I went along, great trip for me!! :D. I missed the SA 747 any good???
The que for the toilets was out of this world, thats why I took a trip to the museum, no waiting there 😉
Spoke to a few of the Navy aircraft technicians really helpful, nice and friendly people. I would definitely visit next year (though I will probably be based there, so got no choice….ohhh harsh world)
Seeing all those Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Royal Marine aircraft at the end made the show complete, an awesome spectacle. The show did lack in the Harrier department I felt, especially on such an occasion 🙁

Sorry forgot to say, positioning of barriers around aircraft, why did they bother, the aircrew just let everyone walk through them anyway, except the Jetstream T3, the barriers around this one followed the shape of the aircraft, totally stupid
