2010 is the 75th anniversary of the DC-3/C-47, which first flew in 1935! To celebrate this monumentous event (has any other aircraft been flying for so long and yet is still in daily scheduled airline service??), an event was held at Sterling Rock Falls / Whiteside airport in Illinois, USA between 23rd and 26th July. It was hoped that upwards of 35 aircraft would make it to the event, but as it happened a combination of unservicablility and very inclement weather in the period immediately before the event put paid to a few arrivals and the final total was 27 DC-2/DC-3/C-47s. Still an impressive sight, as the two aerial shots included in the linked album will atestify.
The aircraft flew out to Oshkosh at the conclusion of the event, and whilst the EAA Airventure hosted even more DC-2/3/C-47s than Rock Falls, they were rather scattered around and not so easy to photograph.
Anyway, enough of all that… I hope you find the two or more pages of pictures interesting.

N41HQ
It has been established that N41HQ, the unique C-41 was constructed as a DC-3-253 not as the caption says DC-2-253 (which is an ancient error)
