So shop workers and customers can sue newsagents for sexual harrassment ( accent on first syllable please) if they display “lads’ mags”. Don’t look dear!!!

Prior to your dissertation, did you have to get some “Hands On”, or field work done?.

In part. It was a photography and digital media degree and it was largely to do with dissemination and the technological advances that eased this…including print and availability. Actually very relevant but i’d have to read through to participate.

I did my dissertation on pornography. Fascinating subject with so many facets and a history as long as humanity if you go to the roots of nudity.

Of course you do but that wasn’t my point.:)
Oops. Apologies for that, you’re quite right, it wasn’t.

Indeed so, but edging the thread back on course, we are not actually discussing pornography here, in any form in which it is commonly understood.

Sometimes I think the human race makes a step forward and then takes two steps back…

Interesting that my heterosexual sensitivities are not harassed (emphasis on first syllable) by glossy muscular near naked males fronting “gay” magazines. That would be a bit “unfashionable” wouldn’t it?

Ironically when I was a spotty oik and wanted the `top shelf` I couldn’t reach.
Now that I am a mature model maker they put the Airfix mag on the bottom shelf, but now I’m too old to be able to bend down!
There’s no justice in the world.

Strange i always thought that certain religions were very anti women being not being covered up BUT you go into your local corner shop and they are normally rammed with girlie mags,——money talks.

If I was a male shop assistant, I wouldn’t want to handle homosexual-promoting magazines,
Really? Or are you just making a point, as I was earlier in #12? In reality I couldn’t care less, neither could most of the shop assistants. Being harassed (accent on first syllable)?? – I don’t think so. What a load of nonsense!

If I was a woman shop assistant, I wouldn’t want to handle them.
If I was a male shop assistant, I wouldn’t want to handle homosexual-promoting magazines, so we would both rapidly be out of a job, since we’re there to serve the customers, not have hissy fits at their preferences.
It isn’t the nudity (or near-nudity) that is the problem but the message that women are simply lumps of meat who exist only for the purposes of male sexual gratification.
Straight from the Germaine Greer text-book on female equality, that, and, coming from someone whose domain name’s last five letters have often been used as a demeaning title for attractive young women, it has to be one of the funniest remarks of the year.
Surely, we are sufficiently grown-up as a nation to consign these publications to the history books?
In the way the Nazis got rid of books, they didn’t like, perhaps?

At the end of the day, it’s all down to individual choice, or isnt it?.what we chose to read, whether it be “Top Shelf” books or Newspapers.

Along with what other publications we don’t agree with ?

Obviously the nude/near nude models get highly paid, so it’s not exactly women being exploited, is it?.
CHAS, Now we have a photo of you at last, must say your ageing well. :eagerness:

I can in some ways understand what you’re saying, but I generally disagree with it. I think it largely depends on the eye of the beholder.
I certainly don’t consider erotic models or porn performers as simple “lumps of meat.” Depending on the context, I actually have quite a bit of respect for some of them. I think some of these jobs require a fair amount of work, talent and courage.
I also get the impression that quite a few women enjoy pornography. It seems to be a very broad industry with many sides to it. Some are good, some are crap. I won’t blame every company out there because of some bad apples.

That’s the message which feminist groups successfully exploit. The reality is that the majority don’t care or don’t notice or both. Interesting that my heterosexual sensitivities are not harassed (emphasis on first syllable) by glossy muscular near naked males fronting “gay” magazines.
