BlueNoser352 here :
Just dropping by to tip my cap and offer a salute to one great fighter pilot & combat leader from the 352nd FG. Major George E Preddy Jr will down 6 Me-109’s in combat 65 years ago ! All hail the memory of the men from Bodney & the life of Maj George E Preddy Jr from my home state of Greensboro , North Carolina USA ! Sadly both Maj Preddy and his brother Lt Bill Preddy of the 339th FG did not survive the war ! Many here like me remember their life and service to a greater cause that has allowed all of us to live as free men & women !
A salute from BlueNoser352 to all who fought & served in the
cause of freedom and defeat of Nazi Germany !

??
Actually…Major. Preddy got his 6 victory mission on the 6th August 1944…not the 7th.
So your a day late….
He also managed this feat while under the influence of alcohol.
The mission had been scrubbed…..so George had a good time at the bar.
But just 20min after hitting the sack…he was awakened to be told he would be leading the mission that had been scrubbed.
He had to he held up during the briefing..and plied with lots of coffee.
After throwing up in his aircraft once they had gotten to attitude.
He took out his annoyance on the enemy scoring 6 vics in less than 5mins.

I’d guess it was a late night posting on the 6th in the US, which would make it the 7th ‘forum’ time

I guess it was after 12 midnight here !
Ok….. guess I might have written this after midnight…just remembering a great fighter pilot in one heck of a fighter group. The mere fact he was under the infulence only adds more to the skills this man had for sure. I always post something about Maj Preddy on Dec 25th…the sad day of his death & March 24…….day of The Great Escape ! Just honoring the memory of these men who I respect.
