http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ollieswebspace/the%20making%20of%20mempis%20Belle.htm
This was inspired by the amount of photos and storys people had posted previously on here and i felt it would be nice to collect them together into one place. If you have either a story(s) or some photos and i have no contacted you, and you would like it incorporated into the project please get in contact with me.

i wondered if anything ever did come of the work and all the info so kindly given?
Good question?
What were you expecting and from who?
Further on from this however, I have it on good authority there may be a chance that someone is in the very early stages of looking into doing something proper for this subject.
That said, I understand that this will be dependant on certain things happening.
I guess time will have to tell if it is sucessful or not.

Memphis Belle Film Photos
Love the photos – putting all the photos and stories from here onto one site is a great idea – can’t wait to see more 🙂
I’ve been obsessed with the Belle, both Bob Morgan’s plane and the 1990 film since 1990, and am chuffed to bits to have finally found a site where I can be the ‘Belle Nerd’ I really am 😉
Nice to meet you all 😀

it’s on tv overhere now. Still a great movie. One of the best WW2 movies of the last 20 years. None of that lovestory crap like pearl harbor. Any updates on your site Ollie?
The project has kind of slipped by the wayside now the airshow season has started. I am going to revamp my entire website this winter and i will listen to everyones feedback, reduce the images down even more add a cast list, some infomation on the film. I am also going to try and locate more infomation. If people out there have infomation that they would be happy for me to use please do contact me.

Mjr,
Thank you for those pointers, next set of photos i recieve and put up i will follow those instructions.
I do it all in front page at the moment. I will add some backgrounds to the pages and make it more colourfull soon. I am on a web design course at the moment so i am learning all these kind of things so with time my site will improve. I will be getting dreamweaver at a later date and once i know enough html i will start writing it in html.
P.s. I am always on the look out for website design projects to get involved with to get some practise in and also to builld up my portpholio of websites. If people would be interested in getting stories, photo collections or anything else online please contact me and we can work things out. It does not have to be aviation related but i would prefer it to be.

Ollie,
I like your site, its coming along nicely, perhaps some wallpapers for each page will liven up it too?
what package are you using to put the site together?, i.e frontpage? dreamweaver? or are you brave enough to write it in HTML!

ollie,
good stuff.
to alter compression and dpi.
open a photo then
in paint shop pro, go to FILE>PREFERENCES>FILE FORMAT PREFERENCES, from here you can alter the compression rates and DPI quality.
***REMEMBER THOUGH** that you are altering the OVERALL file format for the whole of Paint shop Pro for ALL images you open. Hence any image you open and subsequently close, will be prompted by a file change and save box. So any image you dont want to change, say NO to saving the changes.
make a note of the values for the program before you change them.
My advise is put all the piccies you want to reduce, in a seperate folder. Then change the settings in Paint shop pro. Then browse the folder you set up. once you have finished, set paint shop pro back to its default values.
Appologies if Im teaching you to suck eggs by the way

ollie,
you can reduce the average 1Mg image down to about 10-35k by
1) saving as JPg’s and
2) Reduce colour depth to 32,000. High definition is a waste of time for digital.3) increase the compression and decrease the Dpi until the picture suddenly drops to 16 colours and looks crap, then decrease the compression and increase the DPI 5% until the image looks right again, you will drastically reduce the file size by 90% whatever the orginal file size. Best package for doing this is paint shop pro, even the shareware version.
If you want an ultra fast no hassle web site, that even works for dial up users! hosting images any bigger than 100k will turn people off of your site.
give it a try, your site will nice and quick 🙂 .

Thank you for those pointers. I have been resaving them as Jpegs and most of them have come put at 100k or less. I have not yet worked out how to increase the compression in paint shop pro 7.

There are some nice stories and photos on this website but it does not say anything about the actual film. It does not mention that it is a modern film made in 1989 (ish) and why it was made, who was in the cast, who directed it and so on. None of this would require any more research than watching the credits at the end of the film. The personal stories and photos are great but to the casual reader they will not mean much unless there is some general information about the film to put them in context.
Comment duely noted and i will act upon this feedback tonight.

Ollie – I’m fairly certain Buchon D-FEHD/Black 15 was owned by Hans Dittes, NOT Walther Eichorn. He was the aircraft’s main pilot, however.
(Happy to be proved wrong, of course)
